Fake outcall, London
« on: 28 November 2012, 09:20:39 pm »
I can't believe the amount of shit I've had to put up with this week!
The guy introduced himself as Max, he gave me this address: Oseney Crescent, NW5 2A*, the closest tube is Kentish Town.
I went to see him earlier today, when I arrived there was no flat number '5' in the building. Called him twice, he never answered the phone. I am only guessing that he lives on this street and is secretly watching you nd having a nice time. He must know that there is no flat number 5, so you don't ring and bother the neighbours.

I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal.

Do you not perform security checks for out-calls? I don't visit private addresses but would consider it if it was possible to call the landline attached to the address, and the client is available to speak to on that phone.

I would also look the address up on google maps and try to suss the area out and check numbers on doors etc.

Precisely.

The only reason this thread is still on the board (given that if proper outcall checks had been done the situation would never have arisen) is because we seem to be having a few of these at the moment.

Anybody who doesn't know how to check an outcall address, use the Search box here and preferably read the relevant article on the main site. If you still decide to go ahead without verifying where you're going and to whom that's up to you, but this sort of thing is going to be happening to you a lot, and the Warning section really isn't here for people to post about problems which are largely of their own making.

Locked.
