Email abuse, Preston/Blackpool
« on: 23 May 2019, 09:03:29 pm »
Started off as a normal email conversation about a booking. We'd agreed he would phone, but he tried literally a few minutes after I'd turned my phone off as I had an upset stomach. He emailed instead, so I explained, and he proceeded to send several abusive emails. Tony, 57, from Blackpool, t***m******19@yahoo.com.

I’ve messaged you asking for the full number and was met with the reply ... your that third person to ask me this today and I don’t know why???

The idea of the number check is so we can log them in our phones so we don’t have to deal with these awful people and to keep others safe.

Could more info be shared on why we can’t have the complete number ?

Maybe I'm going against the flow/being odd, but I just feel uncomfortable giving a full number out, when you can search for the censored versions fine here?

Do other people normally give full numbers out? I very rarely post a warning, so I genuinely have no idea. ???

(Other) off topic posts removed - members can discuss how they use the Warning section by PM, not on the board.

We have censored numbers here because it's a public board and subject to data protection laws, and not for any other reason. I'd thought the entire point of posting a warning was so that other people could avoid the parties concerned and part of doing this (as posted above) would be by saving the numbers in their phone so they know not to engage with them - it's never occurred to me in eleven years that anybody posting a warning wouldn't be doing so with a view to sharing the full number privately, if I'm honest. The last two digits aren't necessarily going to be the same ones.

I'd therefore recommend anybody posting a warning who intends to withhold the details mentions it in their post. Back on topic.
