Writing profiles/ads
« on: 04 October 2008, 04:34:55 am »
Are there any tutorials or suggestions for how to write ads describing ourselves and services? I want the image I project to be of the girl next door, and to exude sexiness and class. Im really amazed at all the ads Ive seen with all caps, spread kitties and nothing to the imagination. Help!

'I AM HOT CUMSLUT GIRL OF UR DREAMZ READY 4 U******'    <- You mean that  :)

This is something I have been thinking of too, and it's one where I think there's a twofold solution, maybe a tutorial, but it's a bit tricky really. This is business, and like any business it comes down a lot on the initial contact, marketing and sales technique. It depends who you want to market to and where, what words best convey your message, how you write, if you go too dirty or too sweet or too classy you risk losing the immediate interest of some demographics. With ads or profiles in directories, there are only a few seconds to make that first impression, and it's in a way worse because you're not there to make that impression yourself, just this little ditty you've created to represent you.

Writing a sweet and sexy profile on AW would definitely stand out against the aforementioned girl of your dreamz, but if that is the predominant ad type for a site then it's possible that is what the guys on it want and it's gradually tailoring toward a particular type of person. Whereas a site with an emphasis on classy companions, elegance, style and discretion all with stunning photos, the girl of your dreamz with the picture of her blowing a guy isn't going to do so well, because the demographic has changed.  I don't mean that that is set in stone you'll probably get some builders who adore taking out a classy lady and some millionaires who want the dirtiest ad they can find!

It seems odd in a way but business books are having a great influence on how I look at this. Especially ones focusing predominantly on traits and habits like positive thinking and the development of self esteem and confidence as related to your industry, but also things which just influence a good biz head-

Whatever you write, make sure it's spelt and punctuated correctly - get someone else to check it if you are not sure (apostrophes seem to present a hellish problem for a lot of people). Don't write in 'txt spk' - clients don't want to book a moron, even if they are not that bright themselves (and if this is the case, don't point it out). Don't ramble on too much - there are AW profiles which go on forever - nobody is interested and it makes you look completely self- obsessed.

It's difficult writing about yourself, but the best way is often to just get started - when I was getting my website sorted I hadn't written anything more than an odd sentence in the almost twenty years since I left school, and once I got going I really enjoyed it (and even I will admit that my site goes on a bit, but my clients like it!) and I even write a blog every week!

I know it isn't easy but try to be yourself - don't try to play the 'nympho fuckslut' or the 'high class courtesan' if it isn't you (in fact IMHO avoid the word courtesan at all costs, as the majority of clients will think you are so far up yourself there won't be room for them). Being friendly and sounding warm, genuine and welcoming will endear you to most people. They are quite scared of us, you know  ;)

And if you have a cheap looking site, don't call yourself 'Billionaress the courtesan' I worry some of my ads ramble a tad, but I'm workin on it, and I'm looking at this thing like bloody Gordon Gecko!

I'm guilty of overusing commas and being repetitive.

I try to write a few paragraphs about myself (my description, personality) my services, contact info. Should there be more?

I reckon that'll do. If you're too verbose it can become boring to guys and you don't want them turning off without looking through the rest of your site first.
You can always get feed back from your clients, and if they feel you should add more, then do.

I have to confess to looking at all the ladies sites here and many more to get inspiration and have taken ideas for all the ones I liked or that seemed to be similar to the way I'd like to portait myself, but have been careful not to directly copy anyone. At least I think I haven't, but once the site goes live please feel free to check and if anyone thinks they see something than is theirs I will be happy to remove/change it or give credit to that person.

I always find it easiest to learn by observation.  :)

Brandy, on my site, I included a few paragraphs, an faq, a pics section soon to be filled, and a section of services and rates. Is that enough? starkissed.escortsite.com

Cassie, same here. I get inspired and get ideas, and add my own spirit behind those ideas. But Im careful not to rip anyone off.

I think we all take inspiration from others sites, i would have found it impossible to do my site without and i expect thats how most go about it.  I looked at everyones sites from the forum that i could plus 100s of others and it wasnt just to find what i DID want in my site but also to find what i DIDNT want.

It was also difficult for me to write about myself in a positive way trying to entice men in... I have never been good at taking compliments and its only in the past couple of years that i have started to enjoy and like my body the way it is rather than aspiring to the size 10 i was when i was 20.  In the end i told myself it wasnt me i was writing about... it was lexie and lexie is now my little alter ego.. And i love her :-)

Im also a nosey cow so looking at others sites is becoming my new past time :-)

To be getting on with, I think so. As I say, you can always add more later if you feel it's necessary.

hi

i would take some time and be very clear what i am offering, and what the image is i want to present, and who my target is (marketing jargon), meaning the men i want to attract that use my service.

i think it also helps to be clear of ones own motivation

i think it is important to picture the experience you are providing to your client, and your personality, and than put the style of wording, the images and the web site accordingly. the kind of men you want to attract will determine where you would advertise.

i personally feel it is better to target a group than to wanting to be attractive to all; in the example of being appealing to business men or the builder i think it is wise to be attractive to either of them but it would be hard to be appealing to both groups; i also think when i advertise for a specific kind of men that the majority of the men i get are from that kind; which in a way gives me control to what kind of clients i am getting

i am a newbie myself and that are just my thoughts to it

Last night, I looked at two local, bbw sites. I was very impressed with how well they presented themselves. The profiles were well written and the pictures, while erotic, very tasteful as well. My rates were in line with theirs, and I saw a better way to phrase my rates page.

I'm always trying to improve my wording. My first few ads I went on about my love of tennis lol! Yes you need to let your personality shine through, and I'm trying to, but somehow I never feel quite right with it. Everytime I see another persons ad I can't help thinking 'their words are far better!'

Incidentally, I have just spent some time trying to polish the site as well as the text.

Any comment would be greatly appreciated, as ever. Are you able to see the entire page without sidescrolling?
