Would you reject this client?
« on: 19 January 2024, 08:17:34 pm »
Hi everyone

Ive had a new client contact me and he seemed nice at first but when trying to book in started to push boundries a little bit and was really clingy.

Would you reject this client straight up or be stern with the rules of the booking and see them?

Thank youuu

Reject him. I know times are quiet right now, but another better client will take his place.  He is already a red flag, no client is worth the hassle. New clients will come.

Yes, never ignore your doubts or instincts, this is what keeps us safe in this job. Know your worth and don’t let anyone push your boundaries!

The cost of dealing with him might be much more than the booking fee.

The emotional drain that can lead to feeling negative about clients in general, a burn-out.
The initial clinginess could potentially evolve into stalking.
Unless you really need the money, I would say reject him asap.
Even if you try to enforce strict boundaries, he will keep on pushing.

I had a man email this month and phone and text me wanting to see me last Saturday morning. He has multiple reports for being a timewaster and sure enough his car ' broke down.' He said he still wanted to see me but I informed him I was going out later that afternoon.

His response?! Do you really have to go out?  :FF

Like he wasn't content enough with messing me around in the morning he wanted to mess about more in the afternoon.

You can never be 100% certain if they are genuine but his attitude about me going out was the final nail in the coffin for me. Absolutely so self entitled. I would have felt on edge the whole time. He wanted to see me this weekend as well but I declined  ;D

Like others have said the money isn't always worth it.

I've lost count of the number of 'fit me one, see me after your last client, squeeze me in requests. Also telling me how to run my business.

I would add him to the "only if skint and starving" group of numbers i have.

But I would probably give him 1 chance to book with a non refundable/transferable booking fee (I never say deposit as they can be refunded) and see if its nerves/stupidity/deluded self entitlement.  I wouldn't entertain a booking without taking a booking fee fir potentials like him.

I was abit concerned about it turning into stalking so i might swerve this one.
