Hi Anika Mae
Yes i would be interested in your help!! I asked you last week on how to set up a web page and you informed me of Moonfruit and going on Adultworks for starters. I think i can manage doing Adultworks myself but am confused about keeping a site 'up and running' and Banners.   UP and running-does everyone have to pay to have a web site active?
I noticed that on Pretty Big you have to upload a Banner- I wouldnt have a clue how to make or get one- So your proposed service would be great for me. How would someone pay you monthly?- Ive seen Paypal mentioned (for the payment of travel deposit expenses)but do you have to give your real name? X Lottie( IT dummy)

I think that, yes, it is a good idea. What put me off the one page template site is that you get a very limited amount of space to express everything you need to convey of what you're about, I felt it might be to difficult for me to do personally. If I had a particular asset like a trademark of me to concentrate on then a one page template would be great as it'd draw attention to my best bit! That could be anything from a particular look, way of working etc. But either I don't have a best bit or I don't have a best bit that's noticeable enough for me to know what it is??..

I'm still liking the idea of making and managing my own site now but then I've yet to attempt it and may decide it's something I don't enjoy doing so I would then look for an alternative like what you're offering. At the moment I'm trying to sort out and organize everything else in my life first before adding escort work into the mix but it's just not happening as I'd hoped so escort work is something I want but I'm very far away from as there are other things I actually need first before I can make any moves in that direction whether it be an inexpensive/free site or otherwise - I want other things stable first.

I think given the option I would have gone for a site such as you are offering Anika, though on saying that I have found the existing options such as moonfruit, which as you know i have used, are not as difficult to work out as I thought and by having to do what I have done and having the information from this forum as well as help and advice from you all, I have learnt a lot.

I enjoyed doing my site in the end but there were a few things that bugged me.  to this day i still havent got a clue why anika can make a banner work and i cant and also i hate all the templates on rareescort (no offense anyone who likes them, personal taste).  i wish i could have found something alot more simple and plain.  I would do it again and do my own text, phots etc but would be great to know there was an expert around to help do the more techy bits to make it stand out and look  a little special.  for example, id love to have a photo on every page somehow or other but cant work out how i do that, and i want to get rid of all the squirly bits and angel things but they just wont budge and also on rare, its sometimes difficult to get the text to take the format you want (size, font etc)  whcch is why on my contacts page my email address is so little.  Might knuckle down tomorow and have another try.

Good luck Cassie.  xx

Urg, yeah. The Rare interface is not very friendly.

Did you read my post about how to make a banner link? I was going to go on to explain how to work out why a banner is broken, but no-one responded so I assumed there wasn't any interest.

Oh, and if anyone's wondering what's going on with this project, I decided Drupal would be more suitable even though I've never used it before, so I'm currently trying to find my way around that.

i did read the post, im going to study it proper later and give it a go myself.  i think you probably didnt get a respose about broken banners because those of us that need this kind of help wouldnt know the difference between a fixed one and a broken one so im not actually sure if i need to know about them??  :D   Do I?  DO I?  i dunno, you tell me!!!!   :-\

Broken just means it's not working properly, I know you know the difference!

My first post was explaining how to put together the html for a banner link yourself, which is actually the easier option. My plan for the next post was to explain the various other stuff that can be added, so that if something's gone wrong you could identify it.

I don't see anything strange on your page at the moment.

Hmm. It is true that you can do some neat things with Drupal that you can't do with Wordpress. But it's considerably more complicated to manage and for a "cheap simple template site", I'd say it's way over the top. You could leave most people to edit a Wordpress site themselves, for example, but experience tells me letting most people near a Drupal 5 site is asking for trouble.

Again, if you have more than zero of them to look after, you need to use their version control system to manage updates. Just to be different, they use cvs rather than subversion.

Hi Anika, if you're considering Drupal, also have a look at Joomla - www.joomla.org - personally I've found this easier to manage.

Just a thought.

In its earlier versions, Joomla! used to be as friendly as a cornered rat, but has improved greatly since then. It's pretty much a toss-up between Drupal and Joomla! as to which is 'better'.

My previous comment still applies though - they're both overkill for this.

When I realised that I was having to work around Wordpress to some extent I asked some other people if they thought a CMS would be more suitable and they recommended Drupal. I believe I can simplify the control panel, which would be useful. If it doesn't work out I'll go back to wordpress.

I too have used some free sites in the past, and am still doing so, some of the better ones are:
www.escortsite.com
www.model8.com
www.squarespace.com-you will have to pay after 30 days
www.moonfruit.com-my current site, hosted for free, and you can redirect your domain name as well. Plus when you upgrade, they give you 50 euros of google ad words. Very useful for trying out new markets, I also use google analytics to track the demographic of the hits I get on the site. So, before I even book a flight or hotel I do a bit of advertising in the area I am curious to work in and see what the hits to the site are and if I am getting any interest. It usually cost a couple of hundred for a good two week run in the smaller markets. And this is done before I start advertising on the local sites.
Good luck.
