I also offer a Forces Discount on production of ID (and Danielle, if you could PM me some more information about the specfic Afghanistan ones I would be very grateful, since I didn't know about them
), but I don't do it to drum up extra business, I do it partly to try and support the people who have fought and are still fighting for our country in about the only way I can, and also because I am ashamed that at least some of my tax money is being spent to send troops to other people's pointless wars, especially without proper kit or supplies. OK, vent over
.
I think the type of loyalty scheme you describe is more common in parlours where punters visit often - I don't have many regulars who visit more than once a month or six weeks and it would be hard (although not impossible) to keep track of. My longer standing regs tend to get things like extra time rather than an actual cheaper rate. I do stretch the Forces discount to some of my older gents too, as I have some who I know were servicemen for years.
Why not give it a try if you're comfortable with it? My concern would be that all the 'free' ones would come around at once - I had a go at bartering free time for jobs done when I first moved house and needed help with electrics and whatnot; it seemed like a good idea but I soon learned that working for nothing is not a good feeling and can make you feel very resentful. Let us know how it goes!
