Working without intercom
« on: 14 January 2025, 05:10:04 pm »
Hello girls!

I am looking mainly for other peoples view on this.

I have found a flat I am interesting in renting long term. Location is perfect, flat is passable and the rent is also good for location.

The problem I am having is I don’t think is has intercom meaning I would need to either walk down and open the door for every booking ( possibly passing neighbours on a way as the flat is on the second floor) or simply leaving the keys in the key box outside and tell them to let themselves in the main door and after booking go and put the key in the locker again.
( I would obviously be removing the keys after days of work).

Looking forward to Your ideas on this set up.

Thanks x

This is dangerous in my opinion.

no it only takes a guy to post where you leave the key online and watch the door for someone to put it back then go copy the key and put it back or similar and you are then not safe. There must be better options for a flat x

My personal opinion is no hun , only takes one nosey neighbour to see you coming in with multiple men and get the hump and report to who ever . Never leave keys ! You have no idea who might take them then you have to change locks ,have you viewed the flat ? Pretty sure most do have them x

I rented a flat for a week where the landlord knew what I did. He told me I’d need to collect clients as the intercom wasn’t working.

This didn’t bother me, but the neighbour had a ring doorbell and she complained about all the clients coming and going.

Now, only being there for a week meant it wasn’t a problem, but in the long term it would have been disastrous.

I wouldn’t leave a key as you are opening yourself up to security problems.

I honestly wouldn’t rent a place long term that wasn’t suitable. You can always muddle through for a few days if you’re on tour and have to make do, but long term, I wouldn’t take the risk.

If you were to rent longer term, could you not ask the landlord to install an intercom system maybe?

Otherwise no would I say the place not really suitable. Without taking some other sort of precautions, like maybe only seeing clients you’ve already met before?

Is there any caveats about running a business from the property? If you’re low volume you might get away with nosy neighbours wearing smart/officewear (with your sexy stuff underneath) when collecting clients. Claim to be a therapist/counsellor type of role if challenged. Just an idea

This sounds like a very risky idea about your keys suggestion.

I don't know how many other flats are on each floor but you only need one idiotic and thoughtless client to say the wrong thing on the way up to your flat and for a neighbour to be passing at that time and it could turn bad for you. Jeez I've had men use my work name and say inappropriate things in the hallway before I've had time to get them in and close the door. Luckily no neighbours around but I was inwardly furious.

Usually intercom is the first thing I'm looking for in the pictures when I'm trying to rent. I think it's one of the most important things.
