Working on July The 12th Safety In NI?.
« on: 12 July 2013, 08:28:31 am »
A client last night advised to be extra careful being July the 12th in NI with the parades and drinkers. So am even more on edge now only seeing a few who have met before. But am thinking if that is safe?. Is others in NI taking extra safety precautions?. Or working like usual?.

Hi

I was in Belfast when the orange parade was on A few years ago. I was ok. I was quiet business wise and I just stayed in the hotel. It's not wise to be wandering round as sometimes there is violence in the streets.

Hello,

I will be staying home today only taking on 2 who have met before and got on with. So should be ok. My first one at 3pm so an easy day for me. I usually start at 9am.

The marches go on for quite some time and can be quite scary if you are not used to them.  I actually love them but a friend of mine (male) advised me not to visit Belfast for most of the second half of the month cause it can be quite daunting.

Everyone getting bladdered and many of the girls being drunk and giving it away for free doesn't help either.  ::)

Please be careful for the foreseeable future but enjoy the marches, they are fantastic.

I'm taking today off because I was out last night for the 11th (hungover eekk), but I wouldn't have took any safety measures beyond my usual ones today, I think that even if I had of been available today there wouldn't be much business because of not only most people celebrating but also because of aw still being funny.

I would have worked as normal yesterday, only after the client said to be careful it put me on edge. I had to turn down a few. It was surprising, if was available would have had a few extra bookings on top. Last year on July the 12th worked fine. That will the last time a client is listened to for advice so annoyed with myself
