Call me odd but Ive always been fascinated by Soho, even when I was a teenager before I started working. Im in my early 30s now, not getting any younger, and work in the midlands but really want to work soho from a walk up. Yes I may hate it but everythings worth trying once. But how do you get these jobs? They arent advertised and no phone numbers.

I worked (not in Soho)but knew a girl who did. I used to work in Shepherd Market,Mayfair which operated a similar 'walk up' situation.
The financial/working dynamics of whatever flat you apply to work depend on the 'boss/maid'.
Soho however tends to operate on you paying a standard fee per day and then the rest of the cash is yours.  It's lucrative but hard work. Sadly my days in Shepherd Market were on  the basis that I got 40%
I went through years of working in Luxury flats to give a hefty commission.
My advice to you is to get a hotel room and work accordingly.
I think regret the years in this industry where I worked in luxurious or 'busy' surroundings only for another to get the lions share.
Soho In 2017 is very much 'who you know' place and they hold no prisoners and I find you need to be recommended to work in the few flats that now operate in the area.
My advice to you is to go independent.
I wish I did it sooner but I make more than I did in such places
