Working from a Campervan or Motorhome
« on: 11 May 2013, 11:05:54 pm »
Hi Friends,

I'm just starting out and I currently don't have anywhere to work from. I placed an advert in the paper - just to ''test the water'' and  received plenty of calls but I have nowhere to work from  :FF
I have been thinking about working from my Motorhome but I'm worried even though it would be very ''discreet'' its finding somewhere to park. I read somewhere online doggers do this but I'm unsure how they get away with it. :o
Does anyone here do this or  have any thoughts on this?

All the best

Tammy Xxxx

hehehe I can imagine driving by and seeing it rocking on the A52 lay by! ;D If its parked on a site then I would think it was indiscreet. Nosy neighbours.

I don't have any advice as to working from a motorhome but you could possibly say you work, for example, 2 days a week and look at getting a hotel? Sometimes when you book early then can be pretty cheap. Or maybe just do Outcalls until you have somewhere suitable? xx

Yes, as well as the 'where would you park it' issue, there's also the privacy aspect around your registration number - it just takes someone to go 'Hello DVLA, I was involved in an accident with.. and I need the address of the registered keeper...'

How good are the toilet and washing facilities too?

Hi Friends,

Thanks you for replying. @ Cara I've considered hotels but the strict card entry systems end up putting me off.
@Xw5 There is a toilet and washing facilities but there isn't a shower.

Lol, no way, I've been having the same thought!

I once mentioned working from a motorhome as a joke, but because of how hard it's been to get a suitable incall place the idea keeps nagging at me...

All you need in it is a bed, shower and toilet, so I would gut the inside and turn it into a tardis-like sexy boudoir ;D

Using 'dogging' suggests it's the UK.

To the OP there are plenty of hotels that don't have keycarded entry systems (except for the rooms), it tends to be Travelodge, Premier Inn types that have these systems. Do a search of what to look for for hotel incalls.

Agree and Travelodges and Premier Inns are hotes you want to avoid anyway.

There are many hotels you can use but you must do the investigating as to their suitability.

Hotels are much safer  than a camper van.

ha ha  ;D certainly give the words touring and whoring a new meaning    (don't worry in my mad days i even thought of that )

I even though about working on a boat until i realised that i really don't like Bristol Docks and the sort of boat that i would want to work from and the sort I could afford to work from would be drastically different

Creampie Kirie does this.. She bought a winnebago and travels up and down in it shagging the world :)  I know there are two ladies in scotland who do it too, they have hired a campervan and tour up and down park in Campervan sites and take appointments from there.

Ideally the perfect Working flat would be DR Who's tardis that you can move when you need to ESP when you get busted or are touring lol

This reminded me of this quote from another thread!

I think dogging itself is not illegal, it's associated offences such as voyeurism, public indecency/exposure.

Fluffy Bunny it's interesting to know it's been done, I wouldn't have thought it realistically.

Hmm I love ParisB's idea of working from a boat lol, sitting in the sun on a lovely yacht in your bikini sharing cocktails with businessmen... but yeah more likely it would be a barge on the canal in the rain with the fishermen popping over ;D

Tammy I think its a fab idea and I would do this myself if touring , you could tour around places and move on , costs should be less than hotels too.
Also a boat house as Paris mentioned unique for sure..
good luck with it  :)
