Has anyone found the beppy too rough on your insides when taken in and out ? I’ve wet it and put lube on ! I’ve used one today for the first time in ages . But then I don’t know if it’s that or I’m allergic to latex condoms!! Going to get latex free tomorrow from boots so I’ll just have to make do tonight ! Really burns when they penetrate me too! :(

Does anyone know if these are ok to use if you have a mirina coil fitted?

You can buy natural sea sponges (and wash them very well) in Paperchase - there's a massive one on Tottenham Court Road and lots of others scattered about. Don't use baby/cosmetic sponges for the reasons given above :)

I have just got back from A and E having an "intimate sponge" removed by forceps>   Bought from Amazon to use instead of tampons>  Good for light to moderate use. My language wasn't moderate I can tell you.  Two days struggling to remove it, never again.......

I've used sponges with a mirena and its ok to use tampons so they are similar , I had very very short strings but if you haven't just make sure you don't pull on them when trying to get the sponge out or the mirena will come out at the same time :)

I use ibuprofen tablets to thin out the blood dummy period
I take three tablets every two or three hours and use coloured condoms and sponge

Tranexamic acid does that but it's safe , that's way too much ibuprofen ( over daily dose) it can really irritate your tummy and give you an ulcer .

My advice is do not work and take a week off. With PMS you feel shit anyway. If you work hard for 3 weeks you deserve a week off and can look forward to that week off. I am menopausal now and still take a week's holiday! Can do things that I enjoy - like sleep - shop -  cook - a day at the spa!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so this is my first post (from the U.S. - Texas), but I wanted to mention another option for a sponge stuck in an inconvenient place lol. I recently found myself in this very situation, with no insurance and facing the possibility of a big emergency room bill.

I started thinking what would happen if I did go to an emergency room -- how a doctor / nurse would handle the removal. And I figured they'd have to use some sort of forceps-like instrument. Then I thought, well . . . I have some metal tongs, the kind you use when you cook wieners in hot water. SOOOOOOOO . . . I went to the kitchen and rattled around in the drawer until I found them. Then I washed them in anti-bacterial soap and splashed them with rubbing alcohol then dried them off with a paper towel.

Then  . . . I drew a big breath and lay back on the bed. You can guess the rest lol. I've actually done this in two different situations. The trick is to insert the tongs closed, then when they're up in there, open them, move in a little farther and do the grab! Works like a charm.

Hope this helps somebody!

Yep I get wiped off my feet can't even walk about I've been it bed two days and I'm on strong painkillers and although it's in full flow with cramping , back ache , shooting pains , I still know it's not gone to ballistic levels (peri menopause) I never know how long it's going to last at all but it's totally impossible to work .

They say things like let me know and I'll take you for a drive or dinner and are being nice but I could go if I took my puppy pad that I have to sit on and wore my pjs and trainers , at the moment it's an issue getting into my kitchen to make a cup of tea !

I never work during my period. I don't ever feel like it apart from amything else! I get cramps. my tummy and breasts get really swollen and I feel really lethargic. Hats off to those of you who can, I just never could. I would also really worry about accidents happening with sponges etc.
