The flat baby ramer sponges are good and you can cut them into an adequate size, also they do not break off etc.

I wouldn't advise this - baby wipes (including the fragrance free ones) contain all sorts of chemicals to keep them wet, stop bacterial growth and so on. Your vagina doesn't need a 'good wipe out' and especially not with sodium laureth sulfate, phenoxyethanol and formaldehyde derivatives, amongst other things.

I use Gynotex which are slightly bigger but getting them out can be a harrrowing process. Some ladies I know use a showerhead (minus the head!).
I just lie on my back and struggle for a while. I would never put other cosmetic sponges or wipes up my vagina under any circumstances.

Any suggestions on the best for working on your period (which sponges, where to buy them, other options?) Im sick of having to cancel on clients as mine comes whenever it pleases. Thanks x

Hello there,

I've only been escorting for a few weeks, on my last period I used beppy wet sponge tampons but was not able to remove it myself, so ended up having to go to a clinic to get it taken out. I am really worried about using them again, I was wondering if there are any alternatives that are easier to remove? Xxx

I use a soft baby sponge cut to size.

I use a soft baby sponge cut to size.

That's what I do too but with a couple of tampons across the bottom with the sponge on top. Only works if the flows not too heavy however.

Edit I have never gotten thrush this way! Only got thrush X2 in 3 years both after antibiotics! No its not designed to go down there but as long as its clean, washed every time, and obviously taken out asap after sex, no problems. Also low volume anyway and if period too heavy simple I just have to resign myself to not working.

The flat baby ramer sponge worked well for me,  did struggle to get it out though.

However I found that the calpol syringe (that I use for dispensing lube internally) inserted fully extended with  plunger end going in first  managed to latch on the sponge and return to base,!

Agree with Amy, there's no way I'd put anything in my vagina that wasn't designed for the purpose. I am prone to thrush and anything like that will set it off.

I have had good results with the Beppy sponges. For those struggling to get them out, are you bearing down really hard as you reach up?

I use Beppy sponges which I buy from Amazon for the best price.

If your periods are irregular have you spoken to your GP about changing (or starting) hormonal contraception? I am on depo injections and I only have one light period every 3 months. I know it doesn't suit everyone though.

I am still finding Beppy difficult to use.

I tried using one on day 1 of my monthly - I did wet it but surely you have to squeeze some of the water out before folding it in half and inserting it?

I can only use them on day 1 and day 5 of the period owing to clotting.

I found the Beppy travelled down my vagina and was nearly out.  After half an hour of being inside.

Did I squeeze too much water out?  Or did I not push it far enough down?

Any ideas would be most welcome.  It really is vexing that I can't work on days 2 3 and 4 but to be able to work on day 1 and day 5 would be great.  Luckily I had a spate of blowjobs and anal those days so all was fine.  I am not always that lucky!

I use instead softcups, and put a cut out 3cm diameter piece of ramer sponge in the cup too for a belt and braces approach. Am fine for around 2 to 3 hrs of vigorous activity even on heavy days!

The reason non-gynae sponges shouldn't be used isn't because they cause thrush, it's because tiny fragments of them can break off and embed themselves in your vaginal walls to cause you problems later on.

I actually find natural sea sponges (which used to be sold as 'Sea Pearls' easier to out than Beppys. They're easier to get a grip on, I think.

I haven't found them hard to take out at all.  It is more a problem with keeping them in in the right place!

Perhaps I need to pop them in then use a vibrator to double check they are in situ like someone else mentioned on here.

I have tried sea sponges and felt really conscious of them when in whereas with the beppy I haven't found them uncomfortable.  I bought the wet Beppy and wet them again then folded them in half after squeezing the excess out, as otherwise surely it is too wet to stay up??

Am sure a Beppy diehard will come along and guide me.  Hate losing money each month ....
