Well depends how heavy and how long the booking is. I have 1/2 heavy days during my period and sometimes I can just tell I won't be able to work, other times I can do up to an hour on those days.

This is what works for me. Around 15 minutes prior to the booking I shower, douche thoroughly and put a tampax in. Then just before the booking remove tampon, douche again then place 2 tampax lengthways across the bottom of the vagina. Then I place 2 pieces of sponge I've cut to fit, again lengthways over the tampax.

This has worked for me without fail. Amazingly none of the guys seem to notice, even when fingering enthusiastically (although if in doubt I distract them away from that).

However if your flow is extremely heavy I'm not sure what to suggest.

It may be just me, but I don't cut the sponges and I've not had any visible bleed even though when I bleed, I'm quite heavy. Possibly the absorbency is greater in one whole one as oppose to two separate ones as no gap (if that makes sense). Plus, I'm assuming getting one of the pesky blighters out is easier than two smaller ones  ;D

I used the good old sponge trick whilst on my period. I took it out but it must of ripped in half whilst removing it without me realising. After 4 days of strange smells & stomach pain I saw the gyno. Needless to say I was very embarrassed when the forceps revealed half a sponge with 2 nurses looking at me funny! I'm now on 2 sets of antibiotics incase of any bacteria & can't have sex for 2 weeks incase of pelvic inflammatory disease. Never again! Just a warning girls. Make sure it's out! Xx

I have used natural sea sponge in the yes. Yes it got stuck, yes I had to go to A and E and get it removed. Highly unpleasant!! From now on i'm going to go on the pill and just take it three months straight. That is what the lady recommended. I do not recommend it unless you have a friend around who is comfortable going up there if you cant get it out yourself! x

Hi ladies

I seem to be getting more frequent periods as I am 52 (oh the joys of an approaching menopause!) not sure how to use the Beppy saw the video but not sure whether to a) wet it first b) add lube then insert?

Also it looks quite BIG how on earth does that squeeze up into the cervix?

Not going to try them out this week but may need to know for future use!

Any light you may be able to shed would be appreciated.

I have dabbled with the sea sponge but as my period was so light on those days I didn't need to use it at all in the end.  Even that I had to cut in half.

Does anybody find they have to cut the wet Beppy tampon too?

Thank you in advance.  :)

When I used them 20 years ago I wet it, folded it half and slid it in. I then pushed it further in as far as possible by using my fingers. I never used lube.

The wet tampons have lube on them already, so you don't need to add more unless you want to. They don't go into your cervix, just up to it - I don't use them often but I do them exactly the same way as Helen said and bar one time I had a job getting one out again (which there's loads of tips here about) I've never had a problem with them :).

I'm a similar age , so similar issues , they don't stop and start the same , sometimes they can just start so I use beppy sometimes just in case but I squash it up and then use a vibrator to make sure it can't be 'felt' but I can get them out , usually can get a bit of an edge and wiggle it down ...I'm guessing if you had a bath and got it wet a bit it may come down easier, but I did read it's better to take out straight away as everything's more open and muscles are more relaxed  ;)

On days 2 3 and 4 I get clots so don't think I would risk working then unless the guy just wants owo and anal.

I was thinking to work from day 5.  They seem to be lasting longer these days and although I can reduce their length by taking homoeopathic (in my extensive stock at home) sometimes it leaves a mere trickle then hard to know what the heck to do.  So I may just stop taking the remedies unless they are still heavy on day 5 so I can then work from that day on.

To be honest I don't feel full of the joys days 2 3 and 4 but don't mind the odd bj then.  At least I am not bedridden so am thankful.  Sympathies to those of you who are during the monthly curse!

I went to the hygienist this morning she was saying it is a sign of good health to be still menstruating in our fifties I told her that I take lots of supplements etc.  Apparently periods keep us lyounger for longer and may prevent osteoporosis!  At least it has some benefits .....

I get bad clotting too , it's like the chainsaw massacre sometimes , I went to my gynaecologist and he gave me transamic acid, which didn't help much then mefanamic acid which he said would make them lighter ....it's a strong anti imflamatory but it reduces flow but you have to take with food and eat really sporadically and they gave me an upset tummy, can't really take even ibrufen as it irritates my stomach but they definitely helped , I have taken norethisterone to stop them mid track a few times but as soon as you stop they gave me ( and when I googled lots of other people too) the period like a train crash after . But you can buy online from superdrug ( I think) and lloyds pharmacy xxx

oops I eat sporadically I meant , you need to eat 3 times a day on those tablets so they don't irritate stomach x

Hello there,

I've only been escorting for a few weeks, on my last period I used beppy wet sponge tampons but was not able to remove it myself, so ended up having to go to a clinic to get it taken out. I am really worried about using them again, I was wondering if there are any alternatives that are easier to remove? Xxx

I bought a natural sponge and cut a big chunk of it, wet it and shoved it up, using a dildo to shove it further. Never had a problem. However, i changed my pills for those you take without a break and i havent had a period since
