This might sound gross but I reuse them. I mean, I'll make one last an entire period. Just rinse them out carefully and let them dry on the sink overnight. You can give a little soak in Dettol (rinse thoroughly) if you want them sterile. It will be OK!

I seriously wouldn't recommend this. Obviously each to their own. But at the price per one, seeing how much you'll be earning per one, I wouldn't risk thrush or falling ill. Sometimes I go through 4 or 5 in a day depending on how busy I've been and how heavy my flow is.

The germs on our fingers when we stick any tampon up ourselves are horrendous, and we don't get ill. The only additional factor is our own menstrual blood. There's nothing really wrong with washing them out and reusing them. A bit of dettol will definitely kill anything before it dries overnight.

But, I am admitted cheapskate. I will decant Asda bubble bath at 70p a litre into Molton Brown bottles!

Yeah, each to their own. There probably isn't anything wrong with it. But I'm a bit of a germ freak. I'm sure there's no problem doing it, but I still wouldn't recommend double using a tampon.

Diluted Miltons sterilising fluid (the stuff that's used for sterilising baby bottles) is probably a better option for things that come into contact with the body.

That's craziness. Try the dry ones, they're almost half the price, and I find if you wet them first, they're not much harder to insert

Thanks Roxy  I should have done my research into prices first clearly, but because I'm an avid amazon shopper, I figured I'd get the best price. I went for the wet as info on the dry ones says they are for experienced sponge users, but I'll defo try the dry ones and take your advice  Thanks again hun x

Hi guys, can I ask how easy these are to use and how effective? I used the recommended cellulose sponges last time... Um inserting one of those was definitely an experience I'd be keen not to repeat!! 

I've always used them, and I would always recommend them to people. They're very easy to insert. Just wet them, squeeze them into a little ball and push up as far as you can reach. I use them even when I'm at my most heaviest flow, and even then as long as you change them between each client, there's no evidence of blood even on the condom (once or twice there has been, but that's only when the guy insists on having sex for most of the hour, so it was easily explained away by saying he must have made me bleed slightly). The greatest part is, you still get wet when you wear them, and it's still clear (no traces of blood at all).

They're easy enough to pull out (easier if you take it out as soon as the guy leaves, because you're still open enough to be able o shove a couple of fingers up to reach it). If you're struggling to get it out, just sit on the toilet for a while and sort of squeeze your muscles as if you're having a wee, and they do move down slightly. I've heard some people say they struggle to get them out, so sometimes you really need to just dig around a bit until you find it, but I've never had that problem. (But I do have quite long fingers)

Wonderful advice, which I've taken. Had a moan on here about beppy sponges as nearly ?17 for 8!!! (sent them back). However, after doing a bit of research, I found gynotex - 30 for ?13; they're sponges and after a right panic with the first one yesterday (felt it got stuck and my fingers went into spasm), getting todays one out was easier. The bearing down and relaxing advice is the key...also the douching and leaving it for 20 mins or so allowed it to travel down naturally. Yesterday I was terrified thinking what have I done - today I'm really confident in their use, so good luck 

Well depends how heavy and how long the booking is. I have 1/2 heavy days during my period and sometimes I can just tell I won't be able to work, other times I can do up to an hour on those days.

This is what works for me. Around 15 minutes prior to the booking I shower, douche thoroughly and put a tampax in. Then just before the booking remove tampon, douche again then place 2 tampax lengthways across the bottom of the vagina. Then I place 2 pieces of sponge I've cut to fit, again lengthways over the tampax.

This has worked for me without fail. Amazingly none of the guys seem to notice, even when fingering enthusiastically (although if in doubt I distract them away from that).

However if your flow is extremely heavy I'm not sure what to suggest.
