I have amazon prime so things are usually delivered next day. I buy a German brand. Otherwise, what salty said, cut up a cheap sponge from the chemist. I've heard of ladies doing this with washing up sponges too in an emergency.

I would always discourage ladies from putting anything in their vagina unless it’s a cock, tampon or something that’s designed to go in like a vibrator.

I don’t think there are sponges specifically designed for menstruation.

Very true. I used a sponge long time ago it got stuck i got badly infected from it and was in hospital and told by hospital these are dangerous to use.

I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Evening ladies

Was wondering if anyone has tried the ziggy menstrual cup? It’s basically a cup you can wear but also have sex still. I have such annoying irregular heavy periods that sponges do not work for me so looking for a more durable option.

My doctor has prescribed me with tranexamic acid so least they are now lighter. Still a big problem for me though and found the ziggy cup as a possible way of getting around my problem. I found it on amazon around 30 quid so fingers crossed it does the job.

Hoping some ladies here have heard of it.

Thanks xx

I don’t think there are sponges specifically designed for menstruation.

Synthetic menstrual sponges/sponge tampons are manufactured by Beppy and Gynotex, and natural sea sponge ones by SeaPearls (or they used to be - there are likely others too). They've been around for as long as I can remember and are alao marketed to swimmers.

Using household sponges which are full of unpleasant chemicals and are likely to shed tiny fragments that can embed themselves inside you and cause all manner of shite, is the road to madness (and more than likely the hospital).

Oh I didn't know that Amy ??? I looked it up and the same applies to natural sea sponge, garlic and loads of the 'new age' stuff  moon cups etc all risk the bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (Toxic Shock Syndrome). Out of around 40 cases of tampon related TSS  per year, 2 will die from the infection. Not massive but worth knowing. (In comparison round 5,000 die from choking on food each year...knell :o)

I always knew tampons aren't sterilised but didn't know Beppy sponges are!

Has anyone used this? I’m testing it today didn’t have much luck with mestrual cups. I could feel it after putting in but seems okay now. Will be testing it with sex soon. I think my cervix is short so worried it’s not all gone in properly. I’ve had to do this since getting a coil I have heavy periods for 7 days.

I’ve seen two clients for half an hour but not had the chance to try it with penetration yet. One did try to finger me but I had to say no because you can obviously feel it.

Just wondered, if he can feel it with his finger can't they feel it with their winkle?
Is it that fingers can work out shapes and edges better?

I’m assuming with sex they may not work out what it is and perhaps you could say it’s a cap so they don’t get funny about working on your period.

Well only managed to see two today and no penetration. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be busier as I started later today. I might actually get to try it.
