The reason non-gynae sponges shouldn't be used isn't because they cause thrush, it's because tiny fragments of them can break off and embed themselves in your vaginal walls to cause you problems later on.

I actually find natural sea sponges (which used to be sold as 'Sea Pearls' easier to out than Beppys. They're easier to get a grip on, I think.

Hmm good point maybe I should get some natural sea sponges

I bought the wet Beppy and wet them again

Why did you wet them again? They're sterile and have lube on so they don't need it and I'd imagine it makes them very heavy? Just push them in as far as they'll go and that should be it :).

Somebody else on the thread said they wet them.  That was why.

Perhaps that was why it slid down!

Thanks Amy.

They sell a dry version and a wet version. You don't need to wet them unless you buy the dry ones.

I have yet to order the natural sponge however the piece if sponge I use (placed over 1/2 horizontal tampax) has, to the best of my knowledge never been noticed by any of my guys, even during fingering! Which I try and discourage and at times have thought they must have noticed!. All I can say is, if they have, they've never told me.

i dont recommend sea sponge at all. years ago a punter was giving me oral and came back up a bit quick to tell me that there was a very bad smell down there....i nearly died of embarrassment and so did he. i rushed to the doctor who informed me there was a bit of sponge lodged up inside me  and he had to get it out for me. It had caused an infection, hence the smell. After that, when i came on i just had a break from work for a few days and enjoyed the rest lol. Im older now and thank God dont have them anymore, happy days:)

I use both a sponge and softcup as someone else mentioned. It's super effective and I haven't had a leakage once. I disallow fingering during period and no one has ever told me they felt any different. I dont think men can tell  8) 8) 8)

I wouldn't recommend to work for the first couple of days.... I'm really grumpy on my period  ;) Then I'm using soft tampons.

I've recently had the idea of sterilising my sponge in boiling water and then using sterile gloves to squeeze it and insert it.
Any opinions on what I've been doing?

Is it a Beppy sponge?

I reckon that might work for maybe 3-4 times but I'd imagine after a while the sponge will start to fall apart and then you would risk a chunk of it getting stuck in there.

The Beppy tampons stay in place fine if inserted correctly.  They should be removed after each client.  They can last up to eight hours inside the vagina outside of sexwork however but that will depend on how heavy the menstrual flow is.  They work for regular flow only.
