Bleeeeccch periods. I had some nightmares with sea sponges in the past. I've had to go to the clinic twice to have them taken out with forceps, so I'm not going to risk it again. Although I know loads of girls who've used them forever! I think I just have an oddly... tight and long vagina/cervix.

I've had a few clients freak out about STI risks with period sex - I'm not sure if there is an increased risk but obviously it's up to them. Otherwise I use black condoms and tell them if they see a little blood to not worry because I'm coming off my period.

Kay - the Mirena coil is the same drug as the minipill so that will lead to the same problems for Selena. It's also almost impossible to fit unless you have had a child.

I think you are confusing the Mirena with the copper coil. I have never had children and everyone I know who has one, hasn't either.

However, they are not without their risks and a biofilm of stubborn bacteria can knock you out of action for weeks while they work out what antibiotics to give you.

I speak from experience and am having mine out as soon as I get sterilised in the not too distant future.

KDB - I'm not confusing the two at all. The Mirena coil is much larger than the copper coil. Making it much more difficult/sometimes impossible to fit in those who have not had children.

My copper coil fell out of my body when I was on the toilet after about a week of having it put in...

I got ramer baby sponges from boots, but I still never worked until the last day or two of my period.. I'm just too paranoid
when it's still quite heavy, and what excuse do you use to not let them finger you (coz they'd definitely feel it!)??
I finally got the proper Beppy sponges but I haven't had a change to try them out as my period's stopped for some
strange reason..
I haven't had one for a few months, I've had this before, I didn't have periods for a few years..
I was underweight and depressed and as soon as I was healthy they came back (with a vengeance  >:( >:(), I don't know
exactly what's causing it this time but I'm not complaining lol, hate the bloody things!!!
I don't have to be perfect, but I'm perfect at being me!

Actually, that depends entirely on the copper IUD in question. My old gyno used three different brands - all differently sized and with different 'staying power'. The availability of various brands seems heavily country-dependent (guess it's down to which ones are medically greenlighted), but it's absolutely not a uniform thing.

Also, I'm the only person I know of who uses copper (it seems to have a generally bad rep) - all other folks I know use Mirena.

Can I just say one more time I have at no point said it CAN'T be done. I said it is more difficult and sometimes impossible if you have not had children. If you choose not to believe me ask your Dr or Gyno.

(Still only referring to the Mirena, not the copper coil)

i always work when i'm on, but that's because i'm greedy and want the money. I use sponges, in a pinch i have been known to use a make up sponge from boots terrible.
Getting them out is sometimes a nightmare. x

I know about the sponge being cut into piece but the smaller the piece the harder it is to get out  :FF

The two times I tried it I ended up in A & E so i'm not doing it again. lol

'Almost' and 'sometimes' are far from the same, but that's just arguing semantics at this point. To address your second point. Reason I am arguing the point is precisely because it contradicts the experience of both of my med professionals. Expulsion rates seem to be higher in women who were never pregnant, but that's quite different from inability to insert.

Reason I brought up copper IUDs again in my post is because there absolutely are brands that are sized the same as Mirena, one of the most popular ones, and the only one properly available in the US (Paragard) actually being larger than either Mirena or Skyla.

I used to continue with the booking - sorry, I've started my period this morning, if that's okay with you I'm happy to continue but obviously am letting you know a good few hours before the booking - but I've changed my mind now as I rarely feel good enough to work during my period even if the client is okay with it. I'm on the implant and my bleeding/spotting is irregular as hell, it's ridiculous. I've been thinking of switching to IUD but I can't really be bothered and I'd rather not take the risk of confusing my body furthermore and potentially risking dodgy mental health symptoms... Plus, there's the possibility that the bleeding just stays as irregular as it is now. It's ridiculously annoying, but I'm just honest when I have to cancel because of it. Of course, almost nobody believes me and there are not one, not two, but three separate clients that I have cancelled on twice in the same month due to bleeding - of course, I look like the biggest liar ever. One of them called me out on it and I tried to explain the whole implant thing to them but they just didn't buy it. ::) Why they think I'll willingly lose out on money or not come up with a better lie if I was lying, I don't know.

Wow, kiera no wonder you couldnt get it out, I was reading about this sponge thing you can get and I wouldnt ever dare put it far up there and have sex with it in, I would be terrified of getting it stuck, how the hell do you get it back out after its been shoved in deeper with sex? haha I guess I am quite lucky I have a light flow as Im on marvelon pill, but yeh first couple days of period I dont usually work unless the client likes me a lot and is a good regular client & they dont mind im on then I don't unless I feeling especially sensitive. Most of time I cant even tell im on though as I get no pain anymore or feel wishywashy and more sensitive like I used to. But I don't have loads of clients every single day anyway. I earn enough and get enough work atm just from the times I am not on my period.

ok ,on my period especially at the beginning i am wayyy more horny so its a shame to waste it when its good for business!
I put in a "soft cup" diaphragm type thing you can buy at boots and then also for belt and braces approach pop in a circular cut out (about 3cm diameter) piece of boots ramer sponge.I say i dont like fingering (i dont anyway),and despite lots of different positions and vigorous shagging i have never had an issue .
Someone advised if you cant retrieve the sponge to use shower to fill your vagina with water therefore really causing sponge to get heavy and  bulky and easier to get out.Always try squatting over the floor and reaching for it too..lying down it would be impossible!

Well I'm on 28 day pill so no period but I can spot occasionally. And then I put sponge.
Now I used to think it had to be a tiny piece obviously and yes, once I had my flatmate digging inside me for it, she had those looooong nails and it helped her get it out:))))

Now recently I showed to a fellow member here what size I cut the sponge into and she just laughed crazy:))) So now I cut it a bit bigger and I can get it out just fine. Note: Ramer baby sponge, it's white and round, it's a pack of 2. Also I put it in just before the client arrives and get it out the moment they leave.

I always use the dry sponge from beepy , they are easy to put in or out and never had a problem of getting stuck inside. Also you dont realy feel it inside during sex
