Hi Girls,

I wonder how you coped when you are on your period?

I read a book, which suggested latex squares (boiled to soften) as non latex disintegrates.

I can't take The Pill and obviously don't want to take a week off. I'm still new to this so any advice would be appreciated. I am quite sensitive and don't want to use anything that might cause thrush or discomfort.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Hun

I have my period at mo -  this month its horrendous super heavy and Ive got a stomach ache and headache from hell so Im not working for a few days :(

However on previous months Ive just offered massage and oral - most clients are understanding when you explain you,ve got the monthly and accept and/or rebook for the following week for full service.

Ive heard a sea sponge is an option. Im going to try and get one tho im not sure how easy it is to get it out. Red coloured condoms are also a great idea I saw here,
Hope you have a good week :)  xx

I use sponges but remove after each booking. I find they dry you out a bit down there though compared to normal so nowadays I put a thin layer of the vaginal PH balance clear gels on the outside of the sponge before inserting it. Not too much of course but it also makes it easier to insert. I have a coil and I have never had a problem with the string being pulled when I remove a sponge. I also dont buy a special one from one, I just buy the Ramer sponges then pop a piece in fresh boiled water to soak for a while then dry it. Im starting to think I must have a caste iron fanny as i never have a problem with these sponges nor with shower gels etc down there (another thread somewhere else lol)

Ive just started using a sponge - it has to be a special sponge, not a normal one. The clinic gives them out free. I dont feel comfortable with it in, it almost feels too big inside me. But it does mean I can carry on working.

Have you tried cutting it down to be a bit smaller? We are all different and we all use different size sponges. I have seen girls in parlours cutting anything from a tiny inch by inch size piece to a 3 by 3 inch piece. The size makes all the difference towards your comfort x

I thought loose bits might come off it while its inside me, but yes Im going to try it now.  Im not confident at all with it - myself and another girl both had sponges in when 2 men turned up and we did one each. Without sounding personal, lets just say they were gagging for it (dont know if theyd both come out of jail or something) and sex was very hard and fast - I couldnt find the sponge at all afterwards, it was like it had disappeared into  my cervix. I panicked like mad because Im quite shy about going to hospital asking them to take it out!!!  After 10 mins I managed to get the thing out. I ll see the other girl tomorrow so I wonder if she had the same problem lol, she mentioned she thought it had gone in really deep. I hope they cant cause an infection or anything. :-\

Hi, if you can't feel the sponge it probably means its gone just above the cervix so you may have to hook a finger around if  you can, some can some can't. If you squat down its easier to reach sometimes or a foot up on the side of the bath, some girls find a soak in a bath or a warm shower helps to bring it a bit further down a bit.

Don't leave it in there because yes you can get an infection if its left in too long. Just like tampax, a few hours for a long booking is fine but I wouldnt leave it any longer than that.

I agree re the pain, you definatley have your sponge too big. If you are careful with the cutting then there wont be any little bits to be left inside dont worry. Try putting a bit of vaginal moisture boosting gel or just lube around the outside,  helps it slip in easier x

I don't think I am actually aloud to put a link here, but while I was doing my condom shop on Freedoms I found GYNOTEX a wet or dry tampon shaped for safe comfortable sex. So any of you ladies who work while mother nature takes hold of your reproductive organs, beat her off with these :D

I'm kind of freaking out and I need some help ladies (or gents..)

I use sponges during my period most of the time so I can carry on working, but I ran out of beppys so went and bought a ramer, came back from my booking and now I can't find it  ???

I've tried squatting and baring down, I've tried sticking the shower up there to try and soak it so it slides down a bit, and I have been in just about every position imaginable trying to reach the damn thing.

This part is embarrassing - I can feel something spongy but I'm unsure if its my vagina or the sponge.. and I don't want to pull on it too much in case I injure myself haha. You would think by now I would know what my vajayjay feels like, but apparently not. Going back to beppys from now on..

Any more ideas that don't involve me heading to a&e?

Just want to say thanks for the advice girls - I did cut an inch off and its better. So glad I don't have to miss a weeks wages now!!  Also, squatting down for sponge-removal is v good advice as it makes the 'love tunnel' shorter so everything is easier thank God.

I take the combined pill which is 3 weeks on then a weeks break for a period. For the 6 months I've been working I've been taking two or three packs of the pill back-to-back, meaning between 6 and 9 weeks of taking the pill and then a week break for a period.

I've researched this and checked with my doctor and there's basically no problems or side effects of doing this. There can be some breakthrough bleeding but personally I haven't had a problem with it.

When I do have a period I usually just take a week/5 days off and let my legs have a little break from shaving, but I also have gynotex but haven't used them yet.

It seems like I have perfected my own no mess method to work during my period yesterday. I used a round natural sponge  about 1.5-1.75 inches in diameter, folded it into 4 and shoved it up my vagina. Then I inserted a softcup for added protection. Works perfectly and there was no blood or leakages during my appointments, including an overnight MMF threesome. I was even able to get wet naturally without any traces of blood.

None of the clients seem to have felt the softcup but then again, thankfully none were particularly well-endowed. If they had been able to, I would have used the diaphragm excuse as previously suggested by another member. I didn't allow fingering.

Just sharing :)
