For interest, when i started this work - back in 1997 - I signed up with some London agencies. This was when I started sex work and these were my very first clients.

Some of those I called wouldn't take me and I found out I was talking wrong! I told them the truth. I had short hair, was short  and was 29 years old. I didn't know lying to make myself sound younger and taller was important!
Anyway. I got a little bit of work through 3 agencies. The rate then (not top end) was between £150 to £200 ph.  That's almost 30 years ago!

The one agency that was run by a man well he told me he takes the young naive girls for a test run but didn't try it with me.

What I found out about agency work is the kind of guys who book through an agency are looking for a different girl every time. They build up their relationship with the person who runs the agency and with you the working girl.

So yes, their regular clients all want to see you at first, and when they are done, they move on to the next new girl. I never had an awful punters. So, it is worth a try, but don't expect it to stay busy. An excellent central London incall address will help. I regularly did a 2 girl with a girl who lived full-time at her central apartment, and she did OK because she was always there at all times, so the agencies knew they could count on her with each of their new clients.

Some  clients - those who don't do this sort of thing often - they don't realise agencies are criminal pimps. So they go to an agency because they think it will be safer and more professional for them.

Oh that rate £150-£200 in 1997 was for outcalls. I seem to recall about £120-£150 being a typical incall rate at a not high end venue. FYI, in down market London brothel/parlour  you could expect to keep £30 to yourself for a quickie, perhaps typically get about £60 per punter and occasionally much more.

It is a shame our rates haven't kept up with inflation but there were far fewer of us then.

A few years ago I had to see 15 guys to only get back £500 at a well known flat in London... that was when I knew I should go indie  ;D

I was suprised to come back to this after 6 years away to see the prices stay pretty much the same in London with even girls charging 80ph with all services listed.. granted this may just be a hook to get them in but it doesn't look good for those shopping around to find average prices.

If you are already working as an indie at a lower rate, it might work to just get a few scatters of bookings with an expensive agency, 'every little helps'. Another alternative if to maybe expand your marketing and a bit of extra paid marketing (do you have a website?) and maybe tie that with putting your price up. Thats more of a long term solution though and agency work as a bit of stop gap?

This is exactly my plan, I don't want to switch completely to agency work but just want a few extra bookings to help financially xx

Hi

Thanks for all your advice, it's a real minefield. I am definitely not going to leave being indie, I just want a few extra bookings at a higher rate if I can get them. I'm going to be very cautious and if there's anything dodgy going on I'll leave xxx

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with some comments here. I’ve worked 5 years in adultwork and 2 years agency. £250/300 per hour is the average rate you’ll get bookings at. If you’re working in London most the agencies take 30% and if you are over £600 per hour some tend to charge 40% or even 45%. Going over £350 per hour - your bookings are gonna fall dramatically - that’s just how it is in this economy. As someone who has played around with rates from £600 down to £300, there is a big difference. Expect 1 client a day or every other day on £600 - that will all depend on how good your pics are, if you have reviews and how well the agency is marketing themselves.

Not every agency is professional, I have two that I personally get on with and never had problems with. It works for me because I can’t be bothered to do the admin myself. The difference between adult work clients and agency clients isn’t much. I’m sure most of them know what adult work is but choose not to use it for whatever reason. If a client cancels an outcall or it’s a time waster, some agency owners have agreed to take it out the commission so you’re reimbursed in a way. I’ve found usually larger agencies do that.

I agree that you have to know your exact work hours as they can get annoyed if you agree and then cancel. They’re relying on you for income, so understandable. I’ve had a good experience and do have a constant flow of clients from agency, I’ve worked up my reviews on my profiles and invested in good pics so that makes a difference. Positives outweigh the negatives for me. I don’t even log into adult work anymore. I think it just works for me because I’m lazy and can’t be bothered with doing independent profiles anymore and what not.

Anyway only way to see how you feel is to start. Definitely good idea to stay working independently on the side.

once a day client for 600: bliss, having a pimp someone telling me "who I need to see and for how long": Not bliss.

I definitely agree, if you can market yourself well! I found with doing independent advertising at £600 - not many clients at all. Definitely less than once a day. Maybe preferred if someone has day job or another side business. Personally I couldn’t handle it - was very boring for me waiting around all day. I guess everyone works different 😁

Aaaargggh!!  I sometimes wonder if this still happens with new and inexperienced sps. I suspect it might. 🙁

From what I last heard, he does still do it. I think the high end agencies expect much, much more than the lower-priced ones, and I do not miss being forced to work all hours even when I'm exhausted... :(
