awww you poor thing :( Hope you feel better soon. Hugs xx

Thank you; I?ve just had to accept I will be massively out of pocket, I leave tomorrow and am still not fit to do bookings.

What?s more there are so many things below standard here; I don?t normally book executive rooms but they were on a better deal due to time of year, so I am psyching myself up to complain before I leave, as I definately haven?t got what I?ve paid for.

Seems like its just not my week this past week.

This comes round every year on the board.

I personally have only ever worked between xmas and New Year and it was dire!

Some girls do well so hopefully they will be along to share their experiences.

Yes, there are ten years of Christmases covered over the twenty three pages of this thread alone, so it might be worth having a look in case somewhere in there is a useful post?

I'm doing the week before in London up to Saturday 22nd and then going back the week after New Year, but I don't honestly know whether I'll bother much at home inbetween the two. Boxing Day/New Years' Day are Wednesdays and I don't really work weekends so that only really leaves the Thursday and Friday of both weeks for me, and what I suspect I'll do is make them advance booking only rather than go to my flat on the off chance. It depends on the weather too.

Alternatively I'll stay at home for two weeks and eat my body weight in turkey and stuffing rolls and cake and mini cheddars :D.

I should maybe add that the five days I did last year (the 17th to the 21st, I think) was the busiest week I had all year and I still turned loads away and finished at my normal time each day. I was practically dead by the time I got home and the next day was a write off so I was glad it wasn't Christmas Eve :).

I've done the stint between Christmas and New Year in London twice as a change from the one before and found one busy and one good but more steady, although that was really a location thing. Looking back at that week last year when I was at home isn't helpful because I was having a new kitchen put in at my flat and not available anyway, but I don't remember turning many down.

You asked about incalls.

Lots of people advertise both but that doesn't mean they will necessarily be busy.

My advice would be to focus on areas where the local demographic doesn't celebrate Christmas. I'd need to Google this myself as I have no idea what religions do/don't.

My only experience is between xmas and New Year. One of my friends was very busy at this time, whereas I wasn't.

The other thing to bear in mind is the limited services in hotels over the festive season. The (chain) hotel I was in only offered a limited menu and it was crap.  Fuck that. I need my grub.

If it's Outcalls from your home location, the only thing to do is make yourself available and see what happens. Assuming you already offer Outcalls, you'll have the necessary safety checks in place. The freaks are out all year round!

Yes once had an overnight on New Years Eve, meal at mine which he brought with him, then to a gig/party, back for bed and I made breakfast in the morning.

I've worked it a handful of times - once in London and a couple of times at home. It's a normal working day and since I don't work late or see people who have been drinking I just did whatever bookings I had and then packed up as usual. Completely unremarkable, from what I can remember.

Thanks for this tip, I'd been considering doing a tour the week before and got a pretty good deal on a hotel too :)

That would be my dream booking for NY lol!! Good to know. As I said I've worked 3 Xmases. One busy one dead. Hit or miss. I'm guessing from responses NY can be the same

When I used to work in civvy world I would work in hostels over the festive and had a great time.  Lots of people around and plenty going on.  Compared to spending it at home with one other person (my mum before she died).  I am glad I left hostel work as it can be quite sapping but that said I really did enjoy joining in the throng those early years at the festive season and I was given a paid taxi into work to get there and back.

For somebody to say that working on Xmas Day is sad is very judgemental.  I always loved it.  Now I have my 13 year old boy at home and it is boring to be quite honest.  Just another day.  I would quite happily work Xmas Day given the chance!  Though I am planning on working a few days in between Xmas and New Year when my son goes away.
