Booking a flight without giving name
« on: 30 December 2019, 08:14:01 pm »
Does anyone know if its somehow possible for a client to book your flight without giving your full name? Or at least to give only surname? I was thinking if he books with not fully correct name if I could possibly just get from him the reference and the details etc and change the name.

Ask him to transfer you money or send you a voucher.

I wouldn’t let my client to book a flight. If he gets access to your ref number and surname he would be able to access your bookings and see your passport details and DOB. I went abroad twice (same client). First time I have booked flight myself and send him a bill plus some money on the top.
Second time we have checked flights and he transfered all amount for me to book a ticket. Clients doesn’t need to know your real name. Only one issue may be at the hotel when some receptionists needs your ID.

Do you not have to pay for name changes on a flight? Could you ask your client if he can give you the money and you book you’re own flight? I’ve done this a couple of times.

I thought about this but he prefers to book it by himself for his "own security, to be sure".
I don't mind paying the fee for changing the name as it's not more than £40-50.
But yes , he would have accesss to all my details afterwards including my passport which is definitely not what I want...

What does he mean...his own security?
You might want your whole fee up front...for your own security, it works both ways.

My friend had client get a letter wrong in her name on her plane tickets, she was fined $50 to correct it, like you mention. The outbound airline accepted it but the returning airline didn't. I don't know what happens for entire fake or partial name.

Client booked my tickets and I gave him my real name, I hadn't really thought of privacy issue then. He also paid in full cash before I went over. 'For my own security'.

Have you met him before and did he paid a deposit? If not I wouldn’t bother talking to him x

Nor me. Plus if he's incapable.of articulating exactly what he's actually concerned about rather than mumbling vague banalities about his 'security' then spending more than an hour in the same room as him sounds about as appealing as being slowly drowned in shit.

You need a deposit, possibly in the form of a prepaid card which you can use to book your own flight. When I last did this I sat with the client and we booked our flights in turn on a laptop which worked fine, but I already knew him and trusted him not to fuck about :)
