Franticgirl90,
A breast reduction is a much bigger undertaking than having an augmentation, so the scarring and rest period will be greater. Additionally, if you are not Caucasian, there is a greater chance of scarring and keloids. Either way, regardless of your ethnicity/skin colour, your surgeon/consultation will be better able to advise you.
As an aside, while I have never had an augmentation or reduction, I have had several lumpectomies, the first of which was almost three decades ago. The scars are still visible albeit faintly. They took a few years to get to this stage. No-one has ever commented on them. I know for all four surgeries, I was told to not drive/do anything strenuous or go to the gym for a good few months. In fact, if memory serves, I wasn't even allowed to shower for the first month/raise my arms above my head.
