Will I lose clients by setting up an email auto response?
« on: 28 December 2016, 07:36:30 pm »
Hi Ladies,

I currently request all clients book via email, I then follow up with a call an hour or so before the booking so they know I'm on my way or that I'm still expecting to see them.

However, I seem to be getting general emails from gentlemen at the moment telling me that they like my profile or pictures and they'd like to see me. That's all lovely but there's no indication as to what kind of booking they'd like, when they'd like the booking or how long for.

I then get stuck in email ping pong where they manage to avoid answering one or two questions but then ask me at least 5.

Would it be insensitive/impersonal to have an autoresponse email letting them know my booking procedure and asking about when they want the booking etc as well as screening questions?

I've already got a FAQ for "Email Etiquette" and what to include in initial emails  :FF

Just my opinion, but I would find it easier to speak to them on the phone before confirming the booking a). as part of the vetting, i.e. do they sound OK, and b). to check what they're looking for etc.

I don't think an auto-response would come across as rude if it was worded appropriately, but when I get a general email I say something like, "Thanks for your message - give me a call when you know your schedule and are ready to organise a booking."

I never confirm a booking without a phone call.

My auto reply definetly sorts the wheat from the chaff it answers all the usual questions of availbility post code whether theres parking etc and directs them back to my profile for answers to the other stuff.

If some one emails you saying 'hi nice profile you look stunning' and they say nothing else they were a time waster anyway so their email gets auto reply then you will never hear from them again because the fact they got an automatic response and you didnt engage with them will annoy them and they go and bother some one else. So no auto reply won't lose you clients the genuine ones will follow your booking procedure and book  :)

I have an auto response like Miss Delaney and it definitely sorts out the TWs.

I am very specific in mine and it works. Genuine clients are not put off as it is worded well. Likewise, I have a statement at the end addressed specifically to the bottom feeders so that when they text me offers for my services or ask for services I don't offer they know they have just wasted THEIR time, not mine.  ;D

I used to use one of these, these days I find just laying out the things  I require on my profile works better. I also stipulate not to contact me unless you have those details, I can then refer back. Sometimes I just reply straight yes, or no (with thank you for your email, signed off with my name) and wait for them to provide the info whilst getting on with my day.

I currently have a day job and take bookings in the evenings and on weekends, I just think it'd be a little sporadic trying to answer and return phone calls during the day.

I personally have never had any issues with my screening process.

My auto reply definetly sorts the wheat from the chaff it answers all the usual questions of availbility post code whether theres parking etc and directs them back to my profile for answers to the other stuff.

I have quite a lengthy paragraph on my profile explaining the info I'll need from them to arrange a booking but I always get the availability or nearest station question. It seems I'll end up with a lengthy autoresponse too!

I think mine would be somewhat polite and friendly, it's just generally an autoresponse makes some people feel put out because "other ladies bother" to respond to each and every message.

Currently on my profile I have a section (with header, bold and italic text for effect) letting potential clients know that I need their name, contact details and when they'd like to book in their initial email so that I can check my availability. I also have a little paragraph saying that new clients will need to be screened, how I do that and if they're unhappy to do it I can't provide a service.

I'm finding it hard to be direct as well as light and friendly!

Thanks for all your comments ladies, I think an autoresponse is the way for me to go.

I now have a fairly lengthy auto response, just to put off anybody not worth meeting with, TWs and people who can't be bothered to follow my protocol, e.g. book and cancel type, someone who is just messing around and those who try to get a kick out of sending the escorts booking requests without ever following through.

My main thought when I used an auto response is that during a conversation the client will receive the AR to each reply. This could be annoying, and some who did provide the details required could be a bit sort of 'I've done this', so I decided to turn it off and be more direct in my replies. When I get one liners I write a full Dear, main body thinking for email then either yes or no, sign off with my name. One liner contact tends to be from people who aren't going to book, because they've not read my details and I don't do what they are looking for or outside the area I'll travel to etc.

Will be interesting to hear how you get on.

AW should be able to stop AR after it was already sent once.  No point of people getting it, repeatedly.

It's the main reason I stopped using an AR, and because most either got it right first time,  or continued as they were.

My auto response tells them just to call and not email xx
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.
