How do you manage your work phone contacts' list? Do you save them all in your phone? Doesn't that take too much effort and time?
I think saving numbers in your work phone is an essential part of a hooker's daily habits! I save good clients' numbers with a useful 'surname' that helps me to remember which Mark/Mike/John/Jim/Bob/Ben they are and whether or not I do want to see them again (I think many a whore has a "Definitely see again" list, a "Definitely do NOT see again" list and a "Only see if feeling especially patient due to being completely skint" list).
Saving unpleasant callers' numbers is even more important, for obvious reasons that you've noticed yourself and have been mentioned by others above, too. Timewasters will come back after huuuuge breaks (probably spent hassling every single one of the other 10,000 escorts on Adultwork
) to hassle you again so always save the numbers of annoying callers.
Because I am very strict and enjoy particularly little unpleasantness in my working life, I will even save persistant texters and mildy odd callers under descriptive names. If someone's texted me 427 times over the previous year - persistently ignoring any replies I sent asking him to phone for appointments or email with any questions - then if he suddenly calls me I'd like to know in advance what kind of guy I'm talking to. Sure, he might just be a terribly innocent and naive soul who somehow didn't notice my instructive replies until I began properly ignoring him - funny, that! - but it's more likely that I need to take any appointment request he makes with a big pinch of salt. I'd put an extra (tw?) after his name in my diary, if so, and would definitely
not put myself in a position of relying on his custom. And it's more likely he'll just be calling to try to annoy me in person anyway (because of not getting the response he wanted from his texts anymore) so I'll need to know to expect that before I fall right into such a boring trap!
Basically, there are many very good reasons for storing all your phone numbers. Adding a date (just the month & year would do; 11.10 etc) is a great idea so that you can get rid of absolutely ancient numbers (thanks Jas! I'll be nicking that one
) but yes, no point deleting them too early. Going through and getting rid of the numbers of guys who were fine but only saw you a handful of times or less can save some space in your phone but on the whole, we just have to put up with having a vast virtual book of numbers both for self-protection and business-building (save your best reg's favourite wine or favourite topic of conversation in his entry, for example!). It's essential.
Getting a phone (Android phones are good for this) that blocks numbers is an added bonus, but I only use this feature on mine on the rare occasions that someone is actually full-on pestering with incessant calls, like a withheld number that just won't p*ss off, cos usually I prefer to judge each incoming call on a case-by-case basis since if I've heard from him before, I'll have saved information that tells me whether or not to answer.
