I wanted to ask a bit of a taboo question here.

Do you actually like this job (escorting) for what it is ? Or what makes you like it is only the "high" financial reward (in comparison with a more "normal" job).

Would you still do this job if you were proposed to do something different that makes the same amount of money and with the same advantages (ex : make your own schedule and stuff like this) ?

Yes I like SW. If I got the same money for a different job....I'd still go for SW. It's such a thrill. Nothing like it really!

My previous career was 9-5 pretty nice money with bonuses every month and a team under me, but I found it way less demanding than SW. I found I still had spare head space and energy so I did both jobs at the same time to keep myself stimulated.

Initial excitement for the first few weeks (13 years ago!) and didn't think this "burn out" situation I kept reading about would hit me. It didn't! I became somewhat addicted and loved the work and all it entailed (well mostly).

Further down the line and where I am now in this work, yes I still like the job but I know if I never saw another client it would not be a problem for me. Sometimes I wonder who my last ever client will be and when but not quite ready to make that decision as when I do I will not be doing a *Sinatra.

I personally recognize myself more in the comment of HR1055, where "I don't dislike it but don't like it either". Well actually I kinda start disliking it more and more and been losing motivation lately because I personally don't have a "saving goal" and I don't have much projects in my life either (I wish I had because I personally don't want to do this for too long but have no alternative option at the moment).
Indeed, it seems that having projects at the same time/in the future of sex work is essential to keep being motivated.

I escort on a part-time basis and around a full-time job. I have had a run of jobs that I loathe, and do often ask myself if I could escort full-time. I always conclude that doing so changes the focus - escorting will cease to be something I do primarily for the thrill and to and change into something I do to earn a living - in one fell swoop it becomes all about money and meeting monthly financial targets. Any joy will disappear in a matter of weeks; I just don't have the fortitude or temperament to escort solely for money, and so I remain part-time.

I also recognise that if I were to escort full-time, I would have to be far more open to new clients. Additionally, I would potentially have to change the way I work/the kind of service I offer too.

Ana - maybe time to think about your life/work balance that will ensure you take regular time out from escorting. I know you are well-educated, would you consider another degree or PhD? And if not that, something else to do a few days a week.

This did occur to me too when I started as I was working full time Mon-Fri in a safe and cosy office job which was paying me only enough to survive and nothing more. I kept my "day job" going for a few months while escorting in the evenings and weekends but I think I knew early on that I would be fine if I went full time and ditched the office work.

I found it did change my attitude but for the better as prior to leaving my day job I was using the escort money for treats and extras I had not been able to for a long time. Once I only had the sex work money to live on it made me sit up and have a talk with myself. Pay bills, treat myself once a month to some new nice things but most importantly, save a set amount and stick to it. I was disciplined and it worked for me. So glad I did as several years on and I am not having to worry about finances for my future.

As much free time as I can get to do other things is my motivation because I have a lot of other things to do, so being able to make as much money as I can stuff in my pockets in the shortest amount of time possible is crucial and prostitution is far and away the most efficient way of doing that .
