Working from a hotel in Leeds, it's one of those doors that needs a key to open from the outside but open with a turn of the handle from the inside.
Anyway, Been seeing clients all day and then went out last night after my last client to get a take away and noticed that where the catch is on the door, someone had put tape over it. So basically, the catch doesn't lock when I leave and can be opened from outside without a key.
I have removed the tape and it is all secure but wondering if a client could have done this in an attempt to get in my room and do goodness knows what. Or whether it was something else, like a hotel employee looking for cheap thrills or to nick stuff?

 I'd be asking for a change of room, maybe tell reception you've had trouble with some unnknown knocking repeatedly on your door and you don't feel safe in it?

I think, if you had the tape ready, you could cover the catch in 2 seconds. So it could be a client.
I leave tomorrow, so I won't make an issue of it but will double check every door from now on.

Maybe, but assuming you're opening the door and seeing them into the room (rather than turning your back on them and letting them walk behind you, which is a bad idea regardless) it would be virtually impossible - I know this because my door is one of these too. These latches are heavy, so it would need to be thick, strong tape.

It's all very odd. Either way I'd move rooms.

Could there be someone else working there who possible has done this to just get their clients in without leaving herroom?
I've never used tape but I am guilty of putting door wedges in hotel doors or leaving catches off if I can.

I don't think there are many hotels in Leeds with rooms so huge and fancy that the OP wouldn't notice somebody else working in the same one she is, although I'm happy to be corrected
