my watts app ac is blocked today.
it is not a business account
I only use it to reply to people who contact me.
And I generally direct them to my website.
I don't send details or photos

I clicked on appeal which didn't give me any info about why it is blocked and did not give me chance to say anything.... I guess it is handled by robots.

It says my old conversations are on my phone, but I wouldn't know how to find them, so I guess I lost those numbers. Also - I wonder if people will still be able to send messages by wattsapp and then think I am ignoring them? Or will they know my wattsapp doesn't exist?

I don't think it is a great loss. Most people who contacted me by wattsapp were time wasters - but not all.

And I was not a member of any watts app group - so I don't know how they identified my account

I just found this article
https://mashable.com/article/is-whatsapp-banning-sex-worker-accounts

Quote
Many sex workers are confused by the WhatsApp bans because of the app's encryption. "I don't understand how WhatsApp can even see that we're sex workers if they're not able to see our messages," Alice tells me.

WhatsApp describes the app as end-to-end encrypted, adding in their help centre that "end-to-end encryption ensures only you and the person you're communicating with can read or listen to what is sent, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp."

However, a spokesperson for Meta told Mashable that group chat titles and display names aren't encrypted, and that these are sometimes used to flag illegal activity with their moderation team. In addition, a white paper from WhatsApp on how end-to-end encryption works also specifies that encryption works by locking messages away with "keys" WhatsApp themselves don't have access to, unless you're on a business account. Those ones, they can access.

I wasn't in a group
did not have a business account
did not have a sexy sex worker name show up as my name.

the only way to identify my number is if the scrapped it from one of the few websites that have my number displayed (not I do not display mu number on AW)
or if some reported me - but who and why would any - I have no enemies - I am very low key.

I think the problem is that the telephone number I am using is a business number because it appears on business websites and WhatsApp is meant for "personal use" among friends and family.

And then of course we aren't allowed to use WhatsApp Business.

But our customers don't understand any of this.

And we should be able to use our business numbers for personal things on WhatsApp - just like every other person who has a company phone.

one last thing

I think the only place that mentions WhatsApp - for me is Adult See.

In the profile, there is a checkbox, so I have just unchecked it:

Most of the ad platforms that I am on ask if you accept WhatsApp messages; I can't see how that impacts a blocking of our account, unless WhatsApp can in fact read messages and determine messages that include prices and services as running a business?

I do use WhatsApp and I would miss it if it disappeared from my phone as it is quite handy for messaging.   I get real clients from it and not just dick pics.

Hello, sorry to hear you experienced the same problem as me.

If you read my messages above, I explained there why they are doing it - when people want to block you, they might have the 'spam' icon ticked, so WhatsApp doesn't know you are a sex worker.
I appealed and had my WhatsApp back within hours. When you press 'appeal' there's space to write something. Just have a look at my earlier messages.
Hope you get it back.

I have gotten my WhatsApp account Blocked/Deleted this week

I had taken out a few new adverts and was copy/pasting the same message to anyone who replied via WhatsApp. I gave some very basic details and a web site link. No photos, no explicit language etc.
I first got a message saying that my account broke the rules and could no longer be used. I thought it may have been revenge from a punter or some bot misunderstanding so in the box where you could appeal I said I was doing nothing illegal and couldn't understand why this was happening. Less than 24 hours later there was a message saying my account was now deleted. No reason given except to say I broke their rules and regs

The thing that really pisses me off is that they actually haven't deleted the account. Be aware, what they've done is deactivated the account. The difference is subtle but important. I used my private phone and was able to send a message to my work phone WhatsApp account. The work WhatsApp phone still had my profile photo. The only clue something was wrong was the message only had one tick meaning it wasn't delivered. I bet most of the potential new clients who have tried to WhatsApp me just think I'm ignoring them.
