What to do if you are too early for a booking?
« on: 26 June 2013, 10:10:27 am »
A client booked me three hours in advance yesterday which was great as it meant I wasn't rushing about and could take my time getting ready.

I pre planned everything e.g. time I would get a taxi etc, and left some time spare incase I was held up in traffic. However, there was no traffic at all and I arrived with half an hour to spare!

I sat outside on my phone on Facebook and played games for about 15 mins, but it was getting cold, so I wanted to go in. I asked the agency to text the guy to ask if he was ready and they said they would but just to go up. The hotel was really weirdly designed (I normally just enter, clock the lifts and head straight for them), so I pretended I was on my phone and headed to the bar so I could then scan for the lifts. When I did, again, I headed for them, but had the receptionist ask if he could help... I said I was fine, then got into the lifts.

I knocked on the clients door and he was on the phone. He seemed a bit arsey and said "You're early!!" (By now I was 10 mins early for the booking). He then took the call next door in the bathroom.

It never normally is the case for a client to book well ahead; normally I get the "ASAP" texts from the agency, so I have to grab my stuff and go, and normally at the time they book, it's rush hour.

In the event of this happening again, how do you kill time if you are too early for an appointment?

Hi,

If a client books for a certain time, I would never be early. That said, with a regular, when they know I arrive by public transport or driver, they are the ones to say "Around 7" and that means ten minutes either side as previously discussed.

As far as killing time, I have no idea...! I just tend to read the news on my phone or gas to a friend.

Hotels often have a bar or a lounge area where you can order a drink without needing to be a guest. Just sit there with your drink and their complimentary magazines/newspapers and you won't attract any attention.

Yes, like stated on the other "timing" thread re clients arriving early and US getting annoyed, the guys have the same right to get annoyed if WE arrive early, they may be in the middle of a phone call (like the guy was) or something similar.

If the hotel has a bar then I would do as suggested above and go and sit in there till the allocated time and then contact the client.

Like we said in the other thread 3pm or 7 pm or 11 pm means just that and not ten minutes earlier and not ten minutes later . (Do you get the impression im a stickler for timing ROFL  ::) - cant stand people who are not).

It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

LL- I understand, but have been so used to the ASAP, I want sex now, guys, that this was the first one ever in a long long time who I was early for. Normally I can time things correctly, but I think I will just go for a drink now before and wait in the lounge haha! :P

A client always knows when I'm going to arrive because I'll have had contact with him. I have sat a couple of streets away waiting, but tend to be a just on time person so tend not to have that problem.

Get a cuppa, Touch up your make up in the loo, Organise your phone aps (personal fave)
I've had this happen before, I hate waiting around but Going up early is a no no as anything could be happening. he could be saying goodbye to a colleague, on a top secret work call or with the mrs.

Yeah punctuality works both ways.  I'm always early too as I'm so OTT about getting there on time ;D.  I just pop into the toilets for a fresh-up etc

I am really really Anal about punctuality and get pissed off if I am kept waiting or if clients turn up early but I also am Anal about myself being late or too early.  I always arrive for an outcall with at least 30minutes to spare as being late would cause me to freak out.  I always sit in the car, retouch my make up, have a cigarette (outside the car), refresh my deodorant and perfume, have a cold drink and relax.  I would never arrive at the door early as for all I know the client may have booked it for straight after his wife goes out as she may only go for a set time and turning up early could cause him serious problems.
Same at a hotel as I do not know if he is with associates or if he is one of those guys that books two or three escorts in an evening.  I just play it safe and turn up exactly on time
