Hi DBLM. So yes it does seem that the sex workers aren't doing anything illegal - it's the control of money that's an offence. Well I never knew that either. And I don't know how an escort can be arrested, unless the arrest is to find out if she's controlling the money.  Yes VM, the police are also taking a more sympathetic approach now towards escorts - I've read their new 2023 guidelines - and I think so long as you're not making a nuisance of yourself it's fine but I still don't get how escorts can be arrested if they aren't doing anything wrong.  ???

you can be deemed to be "assisting in the management of a brothel" if you:
answer the phone
schedule bookings
buy the loo rolls
pay some of the bills

etc etc

also remember that arrest is based on a "reasonable suspicion" only.

All great advice.

I want to clarify, if the police ask for your name, you do have to give A NAME, but it doesn't have to be the same name as on your bank statements etc....
You could give your "working" name or another name so long as you aren't intending to fraud anyone.

I'd recommend having a different name to use if you need to report any problem at work to the police, but stick a name you will always remember and know how to spell and use your own date of birth because you may end up using this information for years ahead.

AND of course, I am not a lawyer but I believe this is all legally correct.

And bare in mind if you refuse to give your name to the police that will prompt them to take you to the police station and they probably will think you have something to hide. Sometimes just giving your name at the time so they can check you are not a wanted criminal is enough.

I have been in these situations where police turned up when working and police raid with warrant. It was awful.
