What Price is Reasonable?
« on: 28 October 2024, 09:37:55 am »
I have someone who I've seen once before enquire about being tied up for 5 hours and mostly be left alone.

I work from home and I don't know what to price this booking. I charge 100 for the hour so that would mean 500 but he says that's too much.

I've re-considered and said 300-250. Bearing in mind I'd still have to be around for his comfort breaks etc and this is my house. He still hasn't got back to me which leaves me thinking he wants to pay even less. He was supposed to do 3 hours last time but the session was more involved but he cut it down to 2.5 hours as he was short on time, so I charged him 260.

I get the feeling he wants to do it for 100 max!   :FF

Thoughts?

Thanks

He is still in your property and taking up your attention. Also you can’t take any other bookings while he’s there (I assume). At the most I’d knock off 25% due to the multiple hours and ease of the booking but he absolutely wouldn’t be allowed to take 5 hours of my time for the cost of a 1 hour booking! He’s taking the piss.

Don’t let him dictate to you what he wants to pay! He’s taking up time you could still be earning so personally I would say full rate. And if he tried to haggle I would just keep going up! Some of these men are so rude! Also if I was you I’d get a deposit, he sounds like a time waster

This and the problem is the haggling costs you time and effort, is he going to be a straight forward booking?

I am often approached by supposed submissives offering to clean for me, given I would have to supervise them and most of my clients want discretion and I limit footfall to my door - this is going to impinge on both inperson and online/remote work. So I need full fee.

Unless you are fitting him in additionally - at a time to suit you eg when not working then I would quote full fee. If he is easy including both making the booking, as well as during the booking I might then consider offering a discount but he sounds like he might be a bit of a faffer or demanding.

I've seen him before and he was lovely, otherwise I wouldn't entertain it at all. But yes, I don't think I'm going lower than 300. I still don't think he wants to pay that tbf  :FF

I don't think the actual price is the issue, it's the fact that he thinks it's in any way negotiable or that he gets a say in it? X is the price, if you like it book if not then don't, surely?

Fair enough, it's then his choice if he doesn't like your fee he doesn't have to book.

I wouldn't be negotiating at all. Like others have said, he will be taking up your time and you can't take other bookings.

How can you survive on 100 an hour!

I did that last year for a few months but it wasn't sustainable.

I now charge 120 again.

Lol, I'm in the North West and it seems to be the going rate in most places around here. I think my prices are reasonable and it's rare I get people trying to take the piss like this guy has. Most people, 99.9%, understand that you pay for the person's time in this job and I'd be less annoyed about it if he was a reg and helped me out over the years. The fact that he still seems pissed off with my potential discount has annoyed me further, so I won't be so nice next time.

I work from home, too, so no overheads  :) Means I can be choosier over who I let in but obviously still got to be very careful! I know not everyone can do this or would want to, either.
