Scared landlord will find out. Help!!
« on: 22 June 2020, 10:17:48 am »
After working a regular 9-5 because I didn’t want to work for an agency or in my city Infact doing this work as it’s not small but not a big city and don’t feel comfortable. . I’ve saved enough for a 6 month deposit to pay and get my own place to work from full time.
The problem is I’ve got a couple flats to go see next week In the city I’ve chosen I’m just really scared that the landlord will find out and chuck me out. I’ve saved enough for rent 6 months and another 2 thousand to get me straight to set free on my own from my city. I’m young and deciding to move out my parents this is a really big risk for me and the only thing stopping me from wanting to do this. I’m worried they will find out and I will have a problem and have to go back to my city with money lost.

Any tips for when searching for a flat? Like anything in the bio that could be a clue that they would accept. All the flats I’m going to see are student friendly and smokers allowed lol. I feel like these landlords are more easy going. Please can someone help I’m only looking to see 2 people a day= 10 a week. How to make myself less noticeable ? Or what kind of flat to choose to be discreet.

Also try to avoid flats in high streets which its entrance are overlooked next to restaurants shops etc. Also dont take flat which got CCTV pointing on your hallway or door. Avoid flats with concierge and top floor flats. If you wanna be less noticeable keep enough time between bookings. Not accepting after each other even tough you aim to see fewer clients.

Why do you think they’ll find out?

I would say try & get a flat without neighbours directly opposite.
Spread your clients out (not one after each other with no gaps)

Ask them not to knock, it’s draws attention to them in the corridor. I wait for mine by looking through the spy hole then open the door quietly as soon as I spot them.

How to you plan explaining your future income to the landlord /agency? I understand that you're leaving your current 9-5 job, but they'll want proof that you can pay the rent (even when you're paying months of rent upfront). So I would suggest thinking of a story to cover yourself. That might me something worth considering xx
