What happened if caught escorting in a hotel?
« on: 29 July 2024, 07:55:01 am »
Hello
I was wondering: is it risky to work in hotels? What happens if they understand you are escorting? Can they call the police? Can the police arrest you? Thanks

No, the police can't arrest you for not breaking the law.

A hotel might threaten to call them, but it's unlikely they will - they won't want a spectacle in front of other guests and unless you make a show of yourself and refuse to leave they don't have any reason to :)

No because we are not doing anything illegal. They can ask you to leave the hotel though if they want to. The police can’t arrest you for escorting unless you are street walking or soliciting. Even then they are more likely to caution you or ask you to stop than arrest you

If working from hotels just try to be discreet. Many hotels (not all of course) turn a blind eye if you don’t cause any problems

Not all hotels turn a blind eye!

But a hotel room is considered a public space as anybody can walk in it by paying. If in some way they have evidences you are escorting or trying to get clients can t u get cautioned for soliciting or similar?

A hotel room is private property and is not a public place.

I personally would refuse to leave unless refunded. I would not expect a refund on the same day. But would expect for all the days after. I never pay advance rates.

Having said all that l am getting more and more inclined to stick with apartments. Although you can get thrown out of these too at least l don’t have to put up with cleaners.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Soliciting is a public order offence under section 1 of the Street Offences Act 1959, and applies to public places, so a street or thoroughfare. There are some odd caveats covering public phones and windows, but a private hotel room is categorically not a public place; members of the public can't just walk into your hotel room when you have privately booked it.

Even if it were, you're presumably taking bookings by phone/text, not standing in the doorway hauling punters in from the corridors as they walk past?

I've never stayed in apartments where there were no cleaners, although I've never worked from somewhere advertised for the purpose. That's nothing to do with the question, though.

We have occasional posts from people who were told the police would be called if they didn't leave. If you kicked up enough of a fuss they could potentially have you for breach of the peace, but nothing related to prostitution :)

I've been thrown out of three hotels in my career, the first two occasions were because of idiot clients who don't listen to instructions-- those two times the managers, came to room and discreetly told me to leave as they discovered I was working and they allowed me to take my time and leave.
The last one was a hotel in Borehamwood, this was a pure set up by rival pimps/escort agency who got the hotel and my room number and just checked in like an hour before
The manager banged hard on my door walked in and told me to leave immediately and showed me my profile

Yeah, I've never been asked to leave a hotel but I'm not under any illusions that it's because I was so amazingly careful or discreet - if somebody decides to drop you in the shit they will and there's nothing you can do. I was very lucky and that's all.

I utilized at least 4 times [hotel name removed] in Maidenhead. Last time I booked and when I went there they told me I couldn't check in anymore in that hotel. That s the only time I got kicked out. In 2022 I toured for 6 months utilizing just hotels and it never happened to me.

I am still amused by an old comment of Amy's about looking for hotel reviews on general sites that complain about staff that clearly don't care about guests and going 'that one looks workable...'
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

It happened to me twice, in many years, both times in York! And that was because when I arrived it was key-carded and I had to go to the door at first floor to greet them at the top of the staircase. It was tucked out the way but there was CCTV in the hallways. It was the last day I was there and the shift manager came to the door and said I had been seen taken more than handful of men into my room from the stairs. I played ignorant for a bit but gave up quickly and said I'd leave. It was the last night so I didn't ask for a refund or anything and I only had one more booking due in. I was tired and not in the mood to travel home late evening, but it wasn't the end of the world. The manager wasn't rude, a bit embarrassed if anything.

The second time was an AirBnB, and it was after I left. I didn't realise there were cameras on the doorbell (lax of me) and I got booted off the site. That bothered me more but just because the owner of the property was unnessearily offensive, calling me disgusting and telling me that I should be ashamed of myself for selling myself etc.

I'd assume that it would be technically illegal of hotels to knowingly allow prostitution to go on under their roof so they'd have a legal right to to oust us, so if you do get caught, I think its best just to cut your loses and leave quietly.
