Weird text - re tax
« on: 24 May 2018, 02:54:30 pm »
Anyone else had this text? Scam maybe??

Hi, i am writing to let you know that the national crime agency (NCA) and Tax authorities (HMRC) have now setup several teams just to target your industry and people like you.  I am a chartered tax specialist in London who has contacts in the NCA which is how I know this.  Over the next few months they will be undertaking hundreds of investigations, including raids to clamp down on tax evasion in your sector.  This can include a criminal prosecution. For a free initial conversation on how to protect your position and bring everything up to date please contact me at Rmarsh@rpgcc.co.uk or text me on this number to arrange a call about this.

If you google the email address it comes up as legitimate but I'm not sure why a 'tax specialist' would be trawling adultwork and such sites and txting sex workers.  If you pay your tax you shouldnt have anything to worry about. I'm also confused how and why they would conduct these so called raids? not all of us have escort down on our tax forms and our job isn't illegal.

Just some arsehole trying to drum up business for himself in a really stupid and scaremongering kind of way.The HMRC are extremely understaffed and struggle to investigate the most easily accessible small businesses so I highly doubt they will be knocking on escorts doors anytime soon and regularly at that.Given how hard to prove anything regarding appointments etc I dare say they put what little resources they do have at other types of businesses that are more likely to keep appointment books etc.
If you pay your tax as you should you have no worries.
I do think this bloke needs telling what an absolute idiot he is but the best thing is to just delete the text and not worry about it.I'm quite appalled by him and fairly sure sending round robin shock tactic spam to people would go against some sort of accounting ethics.

Almost definitely a scam of some sort - I find it highly improbable that a tax specialist (especially a partner or head of) is touting for business at all, let alone by this means. The email link in the message is possibly some kind of click bait.

Guerrilla marketing or he's probably having a wank over scare mongering naive escorts. It' will be a sexual fantasy most likely to bully an escort into tax submission & slavery. What bell end.

This could most likely be the most logical explanation.I'd be tempted to email the actual email address and ask him if he is aware that this is doing the rounds and if it is him then he is breaking the FRC (Financial Reporting Council)codes of conduct.

So...just switched on my working fone (been off since yesterday) and had this message too!!

I was curious so dropped him quick email asking how can I help him.

I can confirm now this "so called" accountant is real and you can google him. Must be a slow business for him?

His response was;

Thank you for the below, if you are filing tax returns each year you should be fine.  They are looking for people who are not.

Best wishes

Forgot to add his 1st response was an automatic email saying he is out of office till 29th. Guessing he is bored on holiday trawling aw, wanking and harassing escorts. Surely this guy can't be ok in his head?

Hmm, quite an elaborate set up. I'm wondering if this may be connected to the guy who does the fake dropped calls and gets off on being blackmailed. Let's just call it "hooker's hunch".

Oh yes for sure.
Even if he is an accountant looking for extra work this is someone i would never trust with my books or secrets.
