What do you use on top of the bed?
« on: 10 May 2020, 12:55:36 pm »
I use microfiber towels because they pack up really small, but once washed they are full of creases. What I'd like is something soft and wipe clean but nothing exists I don't think.

Do you know of anything that can be washed and comes out crease free?

Crease free I can only really think of fleece blankets - they wash well and dry quite quickly with being synthetic. They are bulky though.

I buy large fleecy kinda blankets from wilkos, they are only like 10/15 quid in lots of colours and easy to wash and last well considering how cheap they are. Like I have some black ones which still look quite striking.

On top of the duvet depends on the situation nothing, or a fleece throw, sometimes an actual quilt.

Ok thanks all. I do have some of those fleece blankets for my cats but they always come out of the wash really creased, so I might buy some thicker ones and see how they come out.

I use oversized fitted sheets over a cheap 'work' waterproof mattress cover over the whole bed (not the pillows ;D), and then fleece blankets on top of that if it's a cool day; the sheets on their own are fine if it's hot and everything is quick and easy to whip off and change.

I don't use fabric conditioner on anything else, but if you wash the fitted sheets a few times with an overdose of it the gross film it leaves on things seems to make them more resistant to marks and also smoother (and because they're stretched they flatten out quickly anyway) :)

Thankyou Amy. I might try the overdose of fabric conditioner trick on the fleece and see if it works on those like it does with the sheets. I do like a quilt on the bed and then a nice bed throw with something on top so fitted sheets won't work for me.

Ive started using floor throws on the bed and they are great. You can wipe them down and also put them in the wash and they come out practically crease free. Then you can fold them up and when you lay them on the bed, they look brand new because of the folded up creases in them.

I got my trial one from The Range for £8.00 a d it's slightly larger than a bath sheet.

I just put a towel down on the sheet as I learned that in brothels, although I need a bigger towel as sperm always seems to get on the damn sheet!

I have a waterproof fitted sheet and two waterpoof pillow cases designed for watersports from sheets of sanfrancisco. It was expensive but has saved my mattress and pillows from all sorts of unmentionables. I have a collection of synthetic fake silk non fitted sheets and duvet covers in suitably brothel chic colours and designs that I throw over the top. They all seem to come out of the washer and dryer crease free.

I'm going to buy a synthetic silk sheet to trial now. It's the creases I can't stand as I think they make things look shabby.

With the thin floor rugs, sperm won't get through. Hi e one a try. They look so much neater too. Wipe them down, air them dry, fold and they are as good as new.

I've got some thin quilt type throws from Asda and some fluffy blankets. They don't fully cover the king size mattress, but close enough. I make sure anything happens on top of it. Due to the current climate and the need for thorough hygiene, every used cover (plus pillow cases) are put straight into the washer after a client.

I've had the problem with scabies and accidentally shared towels. If I suspect anyone has scabies, I'll refund them and if they've showered or touched a towel, I'll bin it.

Besides that, in winter, I just change the bed. I don't find the bedding from Asda or Sainsbury's creases very easily. It never looks too bad. Unless you get the Egyptian cotton range. The cotton/ polyester mix seems to be hardwearing, I wash my duvet covers every day in civvy life, 3 on rotation. Had the sets for 8/9 months, still going strong and none were over £15.
