Hello all,

   need advice please what do i tell my mum she keeps asking who im seeing more than ever,she knows i have a lot of male frends as such but im 28 now,iv not had a long relationship 4 over 4 years,shag buddies dont count just cause been concentrating on work & love my work.

   Im happy being  single(I think!!) but what do i keep saying i know my mum knows im not a lesbo but i dont want her to think im a total tart or worse puts 2+2 together & getting close to 4!!

my mum lives miles away so thinks i do promo work & i hardly see her but its  struggle to keep it up.........& no my family would disown me if they found out.never ever an option.

Some people are just happier single. My housemate hasn't dated anyone in years, it confuses her parents (they sometimes think we're a couple) but there's no secret reason, it's just how she is. I think you should put yourself in that mindset and not try to come up with excuses which could sound suspicious. You like your job and you have good friends and don't feel that there's anything missing. If you meet a guy who you really think would enrich your life then you might get involved, but you're not going to find a man just for the sake of it.

thanks Anika,Im a worrier,typical water sign........I just get fed up of hearing that all my couisons,etc have settled down with families.blah,blah,blah hint,hint .....!

Wondering when you're going to produce some grandkids is pretty normal parent behaviour and your mum would probably be at it even more if you got a nice man. You're just going through the same thing as perfectly normal young people all over the world. Don't sweat.

Heh, I'm a water sign, too...! Luckily Mum doesn't expect me to settle down quite yet, lol.

You could always tell your mum that you're at such a point in your life/career where you want to focus on your work, or where you really don't think you'd be able to handle a relationship. Or you can just every now and then mention that "Oh, I had this date last Friday but he turned out to be a total douchebag." ;) If your mum lives miles away like  you said, there's no danger of her wanting or even being able to meet every one of your "potential boyfriends"...
