Boob pain
« on: 31 December 2008, 01:05:34 am »
I get boob pain loads.  usually a hormonal thing before, during and after my period.  I'm on the pill now and although it helps with the vile pain and sickness i have always suffered from it has no effect on the boob pain.  I'm not massive, 38E is quite big but nothing compared to some.  do small boobs hurt too?  does anyone have any tips about how to help it?

Yep, boob pain is not size related - extra firm bustwear to minimise 'jiggle' helped reduce pain through motion, but the only thing that really help me are Long term contraceptives, i.e. the ones that stop you having periods and therefore almost eliminate hormonal fluctuations, which is what causes the breast pains.

I have recently read that the break inbetween cycles on the pill was only done so that women could feel that they were still a woman and natural and that there is no proven reason that not having a menstrual break has any adverse effect - please don't shoot me if you know differently I haven't actually researched this for it's validity.

I shant shoot you but without going  in to detail it has taken me 5 years to find a Dr that will put me on the pill due to massive complications that lasted YEARS and caused me all sorts of shit (i think they been scared i would sue if i couldnt conceive).  I'm now happy to take the risk of being on the pill but there is no way i can risk the injection or arm rod as it has potential to fuck me up for a very long time.  I know im not ancient and im not even broody but my chances of conception in the future are already slim so its been recommended i dont do anything more than the pill to be on the safe side.  There are loads of women out there with the same problem (wont publish the tech term for it) but i suppose if you are the broody type its harder to make the decision to take a  chemical which could have a divers effect thats not an issue for most women.  They are ok about me not having breaks though which is great but even if i dont have a period i still get many of the symptoms and the boob pain is the one that bugs me the most.

Saying all of that, at my age i now know lots of girls who have had trouble concieving in their 30's and all of them say that they will never encourage their daughters to use chemical contraceptions as they are convinced their troubles stem from taking the pill etc too early in life.  I think its a contraversial subject that is going to come up more and more over the years no matter how much the science brigade say its not a factor.  Just seems like a weird coincidence to me but who knows whos right.  Its not like the contraceptive pill and its buddies have really been around all that long (as in enough generations) for anyone to know for sure.  Maybe its as simple as the fact that they chose to have their first kids in their 30's not their 20's.  But then loads of the last generation of women in my family did that in they didnt have the same problems.  Its frightening how many women i know who have had to have IVF in the last 5 years.  I'm practically a bloody expert on it just from knowing them!

Anyway, any herbal remidies or health food options on how to stop the pain would be great.  if they dont exist and someone knows of a massively strong painkiller that will do the trick.... bring it on!

I used to have really bad boob pain until I started taking Evening Primrose Oil. Now I have the odd shooting pain but nothing like what it used to be and also my period is minimal too. Try it, it might work for you :-)

I second Evening Primrose Oil, great stuff. I get really tender boobs for a week before my period and I'm only a C cup. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Oh. Boob pain. I think I have one week out of 4 where I can jump up and down on the spot without agony and some weeks I have to ease myself up from bed of a morning, holding them as I go as they are so tender.
I have had it years and years and it does not get better, pill or not. It is all hormones.
Most of the clients I see, if I say to them, 'Go easy on my boobs please, they are very, very sensitive today' well, they seem to just really love that and I have to say are very gentle with them, I think they really like the thought of it. I really do think that. One guy I saw once ignored me and they were agony for days after but that was early on in the day for me and I didn't want to complain too much - I know better now though. I just have highly sensitive boobs.

They're working on Viagra for women. Are they crazy? That's been around for hundreds of years - its called cash... Alonzo Boden.

Mine are normally a B cup but in the week before my period they jump up to a big C cup, and are REALLY tender, swollen and painful.

I'm just sort of used to it by now(unless someone inadvertandly bumps into me  :o) , but I have a friend who swears by evening primrose oil like the ladies above, so it must be worth a try.

My aromatherapist friend says Geranium essential oil is good for balancing hormones.

And putting cabbage leaves in your bra helps. (really!). It is recommended for breastfeeding but i think it helps with pre-menstrual breasts too.

I don't take the pill after I had horrendous side-effects from all 4 types the doctor tried me on years ago. Personally I don't think it's safe to pump synthetic hormones into my body for years and years, but i do appreciate there are many women who are helped by it (as as a treatment for bad periods etc), and many women are on it for years without any problems at all. Although as said above, it hasn't been around long enough to know. Remember DES?
