Taking the plunge...
« on: 12 December 2008, 05:33:30 pm »
Ok, ive been toying with the idea of being an escort for several months but im hesitant to take the plunge! I am VERY sexual and really get off on the idea. ive gone through the ''Adult work'' site and think if i was to embark on this new career thats where i would start. My concerns lie with, who would i tell in my my personal life so i could always make sure i had someone to call if need be, and how would i deal with a client that was difficult. How did you begin, how did you feel and how do you deal with situations that become uncomfortable with clients?
Ive read through this site and it has been a fantastic place to begin my research,so thanks to those who started it!
Also i am heavily tattooed, so how would i take the photos to post up on Adult Work so not to reveal too much of myself to give away my identity? Bearing in mind my art would be something i want to use as a ''pull'' to get those biker/ alternative/BDSM types.
And another thing about Adult work... how does payment work? It doesnt seem to be on there? Do they have your bank details to debit?
Thanks for reading my post and i welcome any advice on this subject.

Hi and welcome

Payment is in cash when they arrive.  I think some ladies take deposits for long bookings etc but i doubt if they give out bank details.  Stick with cash and you cant go wrong.

As for the tatoos, i only have one and i choose not to show it in my photos because i wouldnt want it recognised in public.  I imagine if you are heavily tatooed and didnt want detail to show you could perhaps blur them a little.  Guys would still know they were there just wouldnt know the detail till they saw you.

Ive seen a heavily tatooed lady's website lately and i cant think who she was but if i see it again i will have a look and send you the link so you can see what she has done.

Good luck.

It's great if you can talk to someone you know about work, but if you can't you can use us. You can ask Penny for a buddy to mentor you, or just get a security buddy to check in on you when you work.

To deal with uncomfortable situations, the best thing you can do is to think a lot about what you're comfortable with (including services and discussion topics) and absolutely stick to that. I've never had a booking that bothered me enough to make me leave early so don't worry too much about it, but remember that you can always go. If you refund part of the fee you'll be able to get away with less fuss.

With Adultwork, payment for escort work is in cash as Lexie said. If you want to pay for advertising you can buy credits in various ways including with a credit card, or earn them buy offering webcam shows or private pictures.

No f***ing idea love  ;D  I'm sure one of the techy types will answer that for you.

Now can i say one more thing.  the email thing, just watch them.  I'm still a newbie myself and i still get them thinking that im going to sit around all night emailing or texting them with details and all they really want is to have a wank to what ever you say.  I even had someone tonight text me and ask if i would phone HIM to give him a dirty call, not even him phone me.... like i was going to spend my phone bill on him! yeah right. Anyway, i think he might be making a booking tomorrow so dont be scared to say no incase you loose them, if he is genuine he will call back.  if not, you havent wasted time and energy on him.  Sometimes they will slip through the net a bit but its only to be expected and you can learn a little bit more with each timewaster you get  ;D

Anyway, just watch them because they will get the dirty chat from you and never book, classic timewasters.  I dont mind if i get initial enquiries by email but i do reply saying that if they require anymore info or would like an appointment they must phone me to discuss it.  Its not fail proof but i think you can tell alot by the tone a call that you just cant get in messages so i would never take a booking without havving first spoken to them.

Thats just how i work though, some might do it differently.  Good luck with it xx ;D

Thanks Lexie, yeah i no what your saying, you can get a bit carried away with excitement of it, but i will make sure they ring me first on my work mobile. He seems nice in the fact that has only mentioned what he wants once and the rest have been complements or general chit chat. Ive spotted a couple of time wasters already so hopefully i will become even more aware in time!  ;D

Can someone say, Adobe photoshop Software? That has a blur tool. But be very VERY careful because its not as easy as it looks. If you blur too much it can detract alot away from your picture. Blur too little, people will notice. Take a tutorial, or hire a photoshop wizard (which is someone who is skilled at the photoshop software)

Yep...I've had that happen a couple times. Now I just get to the point where I do not 'hold' conversations over text. I actually appreciate initial 2-3 text response because I may be in the middle of something and calls can be somewhat surprising, but no more than 2 or 3. Why? Becuase it takes forever, Im trying to get dressed to see them, then after they cum its..."sorry it has gotten late, lets try tomorrow". yer right, like I just fell off a Christmas Tree -saafe  :D

Hi Fern,
I have very distinctive tattoos all over my body. I have to erase them from my photo's or cover them up. I would be very easily recognised from them as they are designed by me so nobody else has the same, I am not a go get a fairy tattoo because that's the in thing to have done sort of girl! From one tattoo lover to another - there is nothing more pleasurable than designing your own, from scratch, working with the tattooist over the days before your appointment to get it the right size and shape and colour and then having it put on you - I absolutely love my tats and even though I can not see a lot of them as they are all over my back! I adore them...
In my photo up on here, well, my arms are tattooed top and bottom, you can't see them at all. The package I use is called Coral Paintshop Pro - you can get it in any PC World place or any other good computer place, it's about 80.00 but everybody in the family uses it for all manner of things as it does really fab things with your photo's and drawings and so on, it changes colours, changes the era of the photo, covers tats and blemishes, smooths skin tone,  we even did Andy Warhole (spelling?) type pics to give out for Christmas pressies! All sorts of things. I found it worth the outlay as we can all use the package for different reasons plus - the old Grandma's of the world, if like mine, do not get agitated from seeing a beach shot of you covered in ink! Ha!
I would recommend it to you.
Failing that, if you can cover up with a silky throw type thing then do that.
Tats by the way have never put off a client to date. Just thought I would add that. In fact, I get read sometimes, like a book! Ha!
Good luck!
Jo
They're working on Viagra for women. Are they crazy? That's been around for hundreds of years - its called cash... Alonzo Boden.

Do you have it mentioned that you are tatooed on your profile?  I just would have thought that for some guys it would be a reason to book more than put them off??

for Bluring tattoos, photoshop is expensive and overkill, Gimp is free, and just as complicated if you want pro tools,

I would try photoplus6 , http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/photoplus/

its free, and fairly straightforward, but still quite powerfull

Hope that helps

Well Fern, assuming that you have now dispensed with the idea of lesbian escorting and webcamming (which would almost certainly result in revealing your face/identity) I think that all the ladies have said is right - it is not unusual to be a bit apprehensive. I have a couple of small tattoos which I hide on my website because like Jo I would be instantly recognised from them.

I would agree and say that there are editing programmes which ought to do most of the work for you. If you are looking to attract the BDSM crowd please be aware that this is very specialist stuff - it really isn't just a matter of getting the shiny gear on and shouting a bit, engaging thought though it is.

AW s a good place to start - just read the main page here and don't fall prey to the timewasters (on AW they have a New Member Alert facility which is possibly the easist way for clients to find 'green' girls I have ever come across) and set your boundaries where you want them! And stick to them.

with the tatoos,
yes anjali has given a good suggestions, i would find gimp a bit complicated too, and i am using photo shop a lot,

for blurring the tatoos yes as anjali said use a simple and easy software, or you also could think of taking images where the tatoos are not in the picture or where they are covered with something like a piece of cloth or a door or the bed settee etc
