Hmm that didn't quite work as I'd hoped - can someone tell me how to not have the pink quote box cover the whole message?  :D I've tried out a few idea's and it's still there...

You just had one too many "quotes" in there. I've adjusted for you so it's easier to read. Hope that's okay.

Yes, I had thought that kinda happened but I couldn't seem to fix it thanks to Anika Mae's explanation I grasped how I'd gone wrong and you've fixed it for me, thanks x

BTW, I will definitely check out a few html tutorials - eek at the thought of doing my own site from scratch though!!!  :o  I always thought that'd be something I'd enjoy to do - I like doing anything that's fun so I will have a go at it.

Speaking of tutorials they have some online for grammar etc. I did have a go on a couple myself but I still don't necessarily grasp the techniques so end up getting loads wrong - these things become distant memories when you've not used them for many, many years...

I'm a bit of a grammer freak so just give me a mail if you need it checked or whatever - I spent half of last year checking friend's uni submissions for them, and job applications for that matter!

xx

Yea I think you're right. I ended up just going with Sid's Angels. Escortsite's registration page kept  freezing on my handheld.

Evie, in response to your original question about SEO - some things to remember. SEO is all about getting top rankings in search engines such as Google, yahoo etc etc - sites based on "free" hosting such and raresite, moonfruit etc etc wiill not get high, if any, search engine rankings. This is down to the fact that search engines view "relevancy" as highly important - free site hosts are deemed as relatively unimportant, rightly or wrongly. Please also remember that sites presented using the language Flash will not get search engine rankings. If you're unsure as to whether your site is Flash based, right click over an image on the page. If the word "movie" appears on the drop down menu, chances are it's Flash or Flash based. Most importantly, good SEO is all about the content. Make sure you name the locations you cover in the main text of your page. For example, if you're based in Surrey, mention Surrey, Guildford etc etc. Put them in bold too. Search engines can only index text that is there. Meta-Tags - these are important, make sure you don't mention keywords that aren't in your website text, you'll get penalised for this. Place the locations (mentioned above) in the keywords and the description of the site.

URL or domain name. Again, this can significantly impact your rankings. Try to use a key location in the name, eg Surreysue.co.uk. Preferably choose a .co.uk name rather than a .com Most computers know they are in the UK and therefore default to localised versions of the search engines. Google.com is NOT the same as Google.co.uk

SEO is all about the text actually on your website. Content is King as they say. Anyone who says they'll SEO your site for you, do two things. Ask for proof of previous SEO projects click http://www.alternetive.co.uk/reports/N&D%20By%20Engine.pdf for example. Also ask them if they can provide regular reports showing how well the SEO is working. Many people forget this aspect, after all, it's always good to keep on eye on your investment. Also remember, to SEO your site properly, they'll need access to your domain name admin area to publish any changes. Probably a good idea to meet them first - it's a trust thing. As with all walks of life, if someone try's to blind you with science to sell you something to the point you don't understand, be wary. If someone says they can guarantee a position on Google, walk away - it can't be done.

Finally good SEO costs money. There's no two ways about it. Done properly, there's a lot to do http://www.alternetive.co.uk/reports/Optimisation%20Report%20-%20Full%20Example.pdf

It's a repetitive and time consuming task to produce good SEO, you get what you pay for.

Having said that, when done properly, it's also the most cost effective advertising that can be bought, bar none. Google is THE number one website on the internet. Getting high rankings on it absolutely pays dividends.

Hope this helps..........

Hi, that was a great response thank you. I've decided financially it's not a clever move at this stage (from going online it's been 7 days!) and your information about the way the process works kind of shows its not really in my sphere. I think I had it confused with google analytics also I thought you had to pay for seo to get that kind of thing.

This is why I don't spend my money, because if I did I'd buy magic beans  :)

No problem, glad to help. I think you're absolutely right to wait and see if it's for you. However, if escorting turns out to be your thing and you want to make a good living out of it, a quality designed website with your own URL name, and damn good SEO is well worth the investment. Speculate to accumulate, and invariably you'll accumulate. Someone else mentioned before that the better looking the website, and the more people that can easily find you, the more you can justify charging. It pays for itself in no time.

Google analytics shows you details about who has actually visited your site. It's free (although I'm not sure you could use it on a moonfruit type site). This is a similiar type of report, it gives a lot of detail and is used by website owners to see how well their site is performing, this includes the effectiveness of any SEO (pages 31 - 39). http://www.alternetive.co.uk/reports/Usage - Last Month.pdf

I should add at this point that my company does web design and SEO, however, don't want to blatantly hijack this board with shameless advertising of my services. I hope thats being honest enough! I have done quite a bit of work recently for an agency and an independent, and found them the most decent people I have ever worked with. Somebody came to my site via this one, so I was curious to see what all your experiences in this area were. Some interesting points of view.

I've just had a quick peek at your site. It's very good. Did I see you say you'd registered the name www.sweet-evie.com? If so, it wouldn't take much to move this over, and you'd receive a lot more traffic by doing so.

I finally got around to correcting all of my mistakes.  Thanks for that.  I have also done some repeating throughout the site so they dont miss where i am etc.  I remember a marketing guy i worked with once saying there was no harm in repeating the important stuff on seperate pages to make sure potential clients retained the info.

And thanks for your comments, i am sort of proud of it now I've had some time with it and gotten a little more used to it.  I still hate doing banners though but luckily Anika mae stepped in to help me with that one :-)

Ok, this is my week girls... Im gonna get some business!!!

I just wanted to ask, how are some of you doing with the websites? I've been looking at moonfruit, so will get back on that again...but I'm also just thinking of hiring a pro to get it done well for me. I could use it...great thread by the way

Really need to jazz mine up again and add something to it.
