Ways you background check?
« on: 22 November 2022, 04:09:27 pm »
Since waking up my old online profile got the odd obsessive moron or two (probably same looser to be honest lol) getting in touch who were declined a booking for poor offensive communication in the past who have set up secondary email or AW accounts to try again until their caught out. Clearly with a new in their bonnet they can’t pass basic screening and get declined again or caught out.

What websites are there these days to type in their phone numbers (I know of client eye), but mostly is there a site to type in they’re email accounts or AW usernames to get some info on them. I know a girl who used to shit these types up and send they’re IP address to them and any info they met off Google searches from they‘re contact info it basic stuff comes up on Google if they’re using a work phone or email address. But any good sites for scanning email addresses or anything.

Got to feel sorry for these types. Must lead a sad life to be for years trying and build up such obsessiveness or angst they have to keep making new AW handles to try get a meet or try timewaste..   ::)

None that I know of, if no reason other than GDPR. What would you want this information for and how would you like it if somebody did this to you?

I’m with Amy here. Would you be comfortable to give a client the same opportunity to look into who you are too? I wouldn’t.

I think it’s not okay to go searching for personal info to use against people, what purpose would that serve you or anyone else and you could just cross the wrong person which is a dangerous position to be in.

Maybe I’d looked at your profile or your responses in order to minimise this kind of contact. Time wasters and dickheads will always exist unfortunately and some of them do get off on a reaction alone.

CE does allow you to link certain information so that you can search one piece of info you may have - there may be more about that on the CE thread though.

If someone is going out of their way with multiple accounts, different phone numbers, different emails addresses I report to warnings sites, apps, then I may have a chat with the police.

Some prospective and newish clients do encourage me to look them up, sometimes I do, much of the time I don't because I have other things to do with my time and my comfort is a result of how they make the booking. Almost purely communication.

It has been frustrating when a person's occupation or identity has come into my view totally coincidentally e.g. spotted in local media, social media e.g. one person who really messed me around, a lot of cancelling I saw posting about a tradesperson messing them around. Another self-employed mentioned time wasters on SM. Double standards, but these were accidental reveals.

Unfortunately as we all know there are always some unhinged types that can gravitate towards contacting service providers in the industry.

A friend was getting threatening messages from someone she had viewed as a regular client in the past (pre covid), who had visited her home, had a respectful job, a well standing job role in the community it turned out, a father recently divorced with some clear angst issues towards women as a result. He contacted her from multiple platforms pretending to be new potential clients in threatening demeanours and sadly acting pretty unhinged. Before going to the police she sent him all his info she gathered on him quite easily found on some Google searches / data checking websites /  apps and requested if he didn’t stop she would then be using this information to report him with the police.

A lot of providers screen extensively abroad prior to setting up meetings for the reason of safety, and more providers I’ve met are doing it here to weed out the bad eggs. I believe if you act in such a way you deserve the repurcutions.

if a potential client is inputting their details into multiple websites online they’re on many occasions asked if they agree to the terms of using their email, phone number or other retrievable personal data etc for that website and waver the right to it being totally anonymous. I believe that’s how some of these info checker websites that are out there bypass GDPR. It’s up to the potential client to act and behave decently and within the laws for someone not to require to go to such efforts to background check them to warn them off before reporting them to the police. Atleast they get a warning then.

Have been sent a list of a few of the sites and apps out there to background check contact details which has been helpful if ever feel the need to for personal safety etc. As we all know Client Eye is a further app that many use and can check phone numbers on. I don’t know how you feel about that one because the potential clients or men listed on there did not waiver their right for their number to be listed on it. But I believe it has helped the safety of a lot of women in the industry at times.

Yes, but unless I've read it wrong, you're talking about trying to dig for information before any wrongdoing has taken place, and in situations where it more than likely won't?

As far as I'm concerned tracking down people's personal details is a job for the police if and when they misbehave; apart from anything else, anybody deciding to send even obliquely threatening communications to somebody else is potentially looking at blackmail and/or harassment charges themselves. The sort of screening you're talking about overseas is largely to avoid law enforcement in countries where prostitution is illegal and not a safety procedure - I've done it myself when working in the US.

There is an advertising thread for the app you keep mentioning, and we'll keep any further promotion of it there, please.

Hi Amy, you did read it wrong. Although there’s a typo it clearly states some harassing contact from the odd bad egg I have received myself from the past since reinstating my online profiles after a break away from working. That was in my OP

Think I’ve only mentioned the app your referring two once on my thread? I was asking if there were others.

Sorry if you feel the need to be so abrupt when we’re all in the same boat trying to be safe, this is my second post on the board but I am no newbie provider and I don’t think your responses are entirely fair having read my original post.

I can see where Amy is coming from, I have reread this several times in small parts & in full & to me this part still reads like you want to find personal information on these timewasters to try & stop them from being timewasters?

People creating multiple accounts to waste our time is something that very unfortunately happens in our line of work, we are always the first ones to call out/warn others about clients trying to get personal information on us so why is it OK for us to do it to them?

I google clients numbers for safety reasons as these men are strangers and could be dangerous or something and occasionly it has helped me decide to see someone or not. I also use Saafe and other safety apps to check numbers but apart from that not much else to do.

I don't use there numbers to find anything personal out i am only interested in my safety. Saying that if someone was dangerous or did something bad or harassed me and i knew who they were i would have no problem reporting them to police but most sadistic men who deliberately try to cause us trouble mostly have throw away sims.
