HELP! My first booking! Need advice please!
« on: 05 May 2011, 02:59:29 pm »
Hi Ladies

So i have my first OVERNIGHT booking tonight and i have no idea what to do! What do i bring? how many condoms? - what do i expect? - when does the money get handed over and do i go to the bathroom to check it discretely? How many hours is considered ''over night''? - I am so nervous!

Hi Minx, welcome to SAAFE. :)

First of all - pack at least 10 condoms, preferably 20+, of various shapes, sizes, flavours, etc. And don't forget your water-based lube.

Second of all, you can search for "overnight" or "bag", or read this article + replies, for more information about what to bring with you and what to expect.

Last but not least, it's a very good idea to establish the length of time that you'll be staying with the client well beforehand; ideally, during the booking process. He might think he's getting 12 hours for ?400 and you might think you're doing 8 hours for ?1200 - well, that's bit of an extreme example but I'm sure you can imagine how horrendous a misunderstanding could be! You don't want your first overnight to result in resentment and sulking, so definitely find out BEFORE you arrive how many hours you're doing and how much money you're going to be taking.

Oh, and please read this article for information about confirmation, screening and safety on outcalls! And please, please, PLEASE tell me you have a safety buddy? :)

Minx, I'm worried that you're going to fast.

Your first post was a "I have no idea what to do please give me advice" one*, and it was just yesterday. I don't think you've had enough time to get to a point where you know what you're doing, and while you can learn by stumbling about, it's not a safe way to enter the industry.

Horrible people prey on clueless newbies because they know they're likely to be easy to manipulate and not necessarily good at looking after themselves, so you need to be tough and smart enough to deal with them. Also, one of the tactics that horrible people use to get their way is to blind you with the promise of cash. Requests for overnights and multi-day bookings often come from timewasters, scammers and abusers, because they know you won't want to turn down ?1k or whatever they say you'll give you. I know it's hard to do, but I suggest you say no to tonight's booking, step back from trying to get any work at all, and give yourself at least a week to learn about the industry, process what you've learned, and think about how you're going to keep yourself safe and sane.

*If anyone's wondering, it was posted as a reply to a thread in the articles board. It didn't seem worth splitting and moving it here because it just needed the standard responses of "read the main site" and "we don't recommend agencies", so I removed the post and responded by PM.

Just really concerned for Minx, if you're still going ahead with the booking please pm me & I'll act as your safety buddy for this one.

Minx - I'm going to agree with the others here and say that it is probably a gravely poor idea for you to be imitating bookings without any kind of safety protocol. This can be a dangerous job if you are not educated and prepared to deal with the multitude of inconvienient and dangerous situations that can arise. Your safety should always be your number one priority in absolutely ANY situation, regardless of the prospect of getting handed a lot of cash. As an independent this means having a safety buddy and this is one of the first things you should be thinking about and arranging when choosing to enter into this business. I dont mean to patronize you but please take a step back and do lots and lots of research before you even consider doing this for real.

Working an an indie means that safety is entirely your responsibility and it can be a lot for an inexperienced person to take care of. If you want more safety and security without necessarily doing much more work then id suggest signing on with an agency who will (in most cases, if they're reputable) provide you with a driver who acts as a security figure, and a detailed safety procedure to follow that will always be running smoothly back at the admin office. They will take a cut of your pay and while many feel that the loss of money isn't worth it, as a beginner I think you will find an agency to be very useful as I have.

Good luck.

And so am I - I saw your first post and you sounded as if you were only just thinking about getting started and certainly not in a position to be taking bookings (much less overnights, which are difficult, stressful and a nightmare security-wise at the best of times even for experienced ladies). How did this man contact you? Have you put up ads without really thinking about what the job involves? Because if you have, I strongly suggest thatyou take them back down and do some research first - you can't just 'do now and think later' with a job that puts you in such a vulnerable position and as Anika has said, there are some deeply unpleasant and downright dangerous people out there who sit around waiting for newbies to come along so they can tell them a load of crap in order to rip you off, get free/ridiculously cheap sex or worse still rob or harm you.

From the little you've said, this booking does not sound right at all - people don't generally just phone on the day and book an overnight that night with somebody they have never met before (I've had regulars book them at short notice before but never on the same day, bar one dinner date that extended). All I would think is that he is either offering you a completely crap amount of money knowing you're too green to realise it, or he has no intention of turning up (and if he does, no intention of paying you). Please turn it down and take some time to get organised first - read the main site and decide on your ground rules (services, fees, screening and so on) and sort out a security buddy. We were all new at one point, but no matter how much you have to learn, you must always work on your own terms and within your boundaries, and you can't do that if you haven't worked them out yet.

Please please please have at least a quick look at the main SAAFE site, as all've us mods have said! Just click on that pink underlined text right there and settle down for a very interesting read. :)

Even agencies are not to be entirely trusted, i.e. it's a good idea to still have your own security buddy because you have absolutely no real way of knowing whether you can trust an agency owner until - well, until it's much too late. Most will consider their commission a slightly higher priority than your personal wellbeing. Apologies if you've read the main site and lots of forum threads already but honestly - it's the absolute number one recommended starting point for all newbies. So consider reading it twice, and anymore questions you have after that, just let us all know here on the forum!
