Personally I think it was a bit of a cheek keeping you talking therefore wasting your time before he told you you weren't what he was looking for. It's something he should've admitted to as soon as he walked in the door. I guess it could've been that he was nervous and was finding the best possible way to tell you.
It's not an uncommon occurrence. I remember reading about an escort who the client wouldn't even let into his hotel room. She said she knocked on the door but there was no answer, but she could definitely hear him behind the door. I don't know if he looked through the peephole and decided that she wasn't right for him, or that he was just a complete timewaster. But either way it's not nice when that happens. And she got nothing for her troubles.
Welcome to the world of escorting.
