Viva Street Rip Off
« on: 10 November 2009, 07:33:56 pm »
viva street is now ?14.99 for 30days, that makes it the same price as punternet.

I thought ?7.99 was enough for them to charge.

Especially considering the number of silly phonecalls you can get from advertising on there! They'd have to pay ME ?14.99 a month :P (but I know it's worked better for other girls, so.)

Theyve put it up again? Thats insane,as if ?7.99 per month wasent enough for them to charge? :o

I advertise on Vivastreet but may have to reconsider i this is the way things are going. Have the people who run Vivastreet decided that cos we are escorts we must have limitless supplies of cash and are therfore ripe to be ripped off?

Number of people advertising on it in my area has dropped massively since they started charging. Its dropped from about 6 pages to 1. Yes a lot of them were 'chancers' (so to speak) but quite a few genuine, professional escorts have gone as well.

Well they are still charging ?14.99.  Viva Street ranks 2nd in google if you search 'Sheffield escorts'  I have put my add on there again to see if it is any better, I have a more detailed advert that basically says to read the add and my website before making contact with me so hopefully the amount of stupid texts/calls may be less.

But if you are going to spend ?15 a month to advertise would you rather do VS or Punternet ?

I'd rather spend it with Pnet I have had some response from VS but as everyone else has found it's mostly 'amateur' clients - guys who think it's an extension of AFF or a dating site and not a serious buisness. Plenty of withheld numbers, fantacists, texters and "I can't get into your website/don't have any time/credit to phone you/haven't read your profile" etc.

Viva still boast "free ads" and indeed "free personals".

By the way I have been approached in my real persona by serious scammers on that site regards some property I was looking for. You know "I need a deposit up front before you see the house to weed out timewasters but I won't cash the Western Union payment in unless you do wish to take it on".

I used Vivastreet for a few months a year or so ago when it was still free and didn't get a single genuine enquiry, which wouldn't matter if it wasn't for the legions of numpties phoning up having never seen my website, or even bothering to read my ad properly. I spend ?30 a month on a deluxe ad on PN which brings me a lot of business but everyone's different - I agree that these site do seem to attract the AFF set, but if you have the patience and are prepared to plough through the dreck (and don't get me started on the Sport) it may be worthwhile for some ladies. Nothing is worth all that hassle for me though  ;D.

I personally wouldn't be on it even if it went back to free again, but pay for it, not a chance, not when you can go on AW, Plink, PZ, UK Belles, Select an Escort and so on for nothing.

Being perhaps quite ignorant I have never even used Viva Street nor did I know about it until recently.  But I tend to read a lot of horror stories even from the clients.  There are probably opportunities but at what effort?

I was disappointed when they put the prices up but for me it's been very worthwhile actually. I do get TW's from VivaStreet but less TW's than I do from AW.
The guys I see from Vivastreet are usually professionals on lunch break/self-employed. I have had to remind a few of them to pay before the 'action' commences though - quite a few seem to think the norm is to pay afterwards.
I put an ad on Pnet for a month and got nothing  :( Don't know why...Could be my photos weren't very good (working on this)
xx

I must admit I've had a few 'professionals' call from VS, unfortunately with them being busy all the time they often can do same-day only and the time they wanted to see me was already taken, or will text/email at short notice and by the time I've got the email (I've not managed to get into VS properly on the Blackberry and their notifactions can be delayed by hours sometimes) the opportunity has passed. My feeling is that they are running their own business where they are 'incharge' a lot and forget we are in business too so why aren't we available for them. That's not to put anyone down but simply how it comes across. Could be wrong.

On this subject always makes me smile when someone thinks explaining their job, profession, business(usually professionals) etc will mean I trust them or make them more serious/genuine than others. My experience in life and work is that I have met guys from all walks of life, accountants, solicitors, Drs, Nurses, handyman, shelf-fillers, farmers, binmen. I can quite honestly, confidently say that profession/job/standing in society tend not to have much bearing on whether a person is genuine, respectful or trustworthy. I've had just as much trouble from professionals as other lines of work in life, and met lots of nice guys from all sorts of backgrounds.

I assume that you are based in Scotland given your nic.  In that case, have you tried Alba Ladies - it is a lovely free directory for ladies working and touring in Tartanland... :)

It's true. :) Like also the 'AFF' guys mentioned above, I think it's easy for guys who scout for sex online a lot to get a little mixed up or not be entirely clear on how escorts 'work', as it were (as in we tend to like simple email/phone conversations with clear questions and straightforward answers, plus a booking made that fits mutual schedules). I do get quite a lot of chatty, "Hey babe, I'm 32, 6'1 and a Sagittarius - what are you looking for in a man? PS I have a big penis" kind of emails which half the time do not result in a booking and half the time are just genuine guys not sure how to go about setting up a paid sexual encounter. For me, anyway, I do NOT need a CV and photo! :P In fact, my best bookings come from guys who just want a chance for a bit of mutual character assessment pre-booking because they're familiar with the idea that I will f*ck them silly as long as they turn up, clean & polite, and pay!

Excellent! Can I quote this in future I think I may have a couple of uses for it - no names mentioned of course.

I agree Strawberry that someone's occupation generally has no bearing on what sort of person they are. In this job we meet loads of men - some are nice, some not so nice, nothing much to do with occupation.

Yeah I'm in Scotland  :) I have been trying out different places to advertise, so I will definately give AlbaLadies a go - I had a look on there and it looks lovely, very well set out.

Haha Emily, I get those emails all the time - reading like something on a dating site! I don't think anyone who has ever sent a physical description of themselves has ever followed through with a booking! The worst are the ones who ask for a discount because they are 'good-looking' . wtf!!!.
