Hi everyone

Im about to start work. I havent visited a clinic or the GP yet for the HPV and Hep B jabs but am i okay to start working safely for the timebeing until i get chance to go? I'll only be offering protected oral until i've been or is that too risky even with a condom?

Thanks

Most escorts probably don't have either jab if they're over ~30. They're good to have, but you should be fine without them if you're sensible about safety.

I was offered hep B by the GUM in my 30s I took it up, GUM check my hep B immunity at each routine screening when it drops they give me a booster including recently in my late 40s.

I was not offered the HPV but decided to buy it privately, someone close to me decided to pay the largish price tag.

Is there anything you can think of that condoms dont protect against?

Anything transmitted skin to skin like herpes, genital warts and molloscum contagiousum off the top of my head. The most common thing you'll catch is a cold, although the longer you work the more resistance you build up (in my experience, at least).

What are your specific concerns? Nobody here wants to minimise a completely sensible and responsible desire to protect yourself, but in-person sex work means regular intimate contact with other people whose health status you don't know and it's still relatively rare to catch anything, even among people who do offer OWO. Unless you have a vulnerable partner (or one who doesn't know about your plans), this level of worrying is just not proportionate.

Unless your pubic area is completely bald, crabs are another risk (and, I guess, scabies).

For ultimate reassurance this could be a good question to ask at the GUM clinic.

Just to add to my above post the GUM know I do not have any unprotected intercourse with any partners (even personal life), but I do engage in OWO. Also very low volume. I have heard of some clinics giving the pre-exposure prophylaxis drug to SW, to take a drug with potential side effects (documented) every day long term just incase a condom splits on a person who may or may not be HIV+. I may not understand his because I'm in an area of low HIV incidence, low volume, low population but it's not something I wish to be doing. I will however take the vaccinations offered, and have received 2 doses of the smallpox vaccine to guard against monkey pox although that seems to have disappeared. I was also low risk for that but....
