Hi everyone,
It's been a few months now that I've been experiencing a "UTI sensation" every time after sex (symptoms like wanting to pee very frequently, heaviness at the bottom of the belly, urinary discomfort that I feel goes up to the kidneys). I've done many tests and 9 times out of 10 the tests come back negative with no sign of infection (in the rare cases where the test shows the UTI is actually there, I take antibiotics but the UTI seems to come back soon after, indeed even if the test comes back negative afterwards, the symptoms remain).
This unknown condition is really annoying as it makes the intercourses very uncomfortable (urgent sensation of peeing when nothing comes) especially when I have a few clients a day.
I'm very careful to pee after every sexual intercourse + also careful about making sure there are no anal bacteria coming into my vagina.
I really don't know what's wrong, has anyone ever experienced something similar to this ?

The posters here are not medical professionals. What did the doctor who prescribed you the antibiotics say?

Also compete long shot do you use toys on yourself?

No, I'm not using toys on myself and yes I've already sought medical advice for it but every time the doctor doesn't say much like he just says that I need to take a course of antibiotics, drink a lot of water, make sure there is no anal bacteria coming into the vagina, etc. like the usual advice against UTI that we already know. Plus as I said earlier, even though I actually have the UTI in some rare cases sometimes, most of the times, my UTI results are negative so no sign of infection (so in that case the doctor just says I need to drink more water lol)

Anna go back to your GP and ask very firmly to be referred to a specialist at your nearest hospital, if they say no as for an explanation as to why they refuse to refer you when it's been recurring for months even though you are doing all the right things.
If they still refuse ask to see another GP at the practice, preferably a female

Hi Ana
I can sort of relate to your situation. I’m currently having the same issues.. I very often get utis. I am waiting on a bladder scan.. ask your gp to refer you for a bladder scan. There will be a wait but it’s worth getting checked out.
Have you tried the cysistis shachets as it could be that rather than a uti..also I do not offer any finger play as finger play can trigger bladder infections off.

Yes maybe a bladder scan would be the best, petlover, keep us updated on what your results are after the scan, I'm sure there is a condition such a sensitive bladder that triggers UTI/cystitis very easily.
And yes I constantly take cystitis sachets (the sodium powder with the cranberry smell) and it helps me relieving the discomfort. So yes what I get is definitely cystitis, but aren't UTI and cystitis the same thing ?
I also do not offer fingering as part of my services specifically to prevent that.

We had a regular poster a few years ago who was plagued with these all the time and used to take a supplement called D Mannose which you can get in health food type places, Holland & Barrett and so on. If you start getting back pain or feel really rough then it could have moved to your kidneys so definitely get a referral too and keep on at them; I would give the antibiotics a miss for a while if you can.
Do your clients tend to be rough, or clumsy, or just banging away for ages? What I mean is could you have bruising or swelling that hasn't healed and might a rest help just to give it all a break?

I have suffered with this for years, maybe initially from being in the swinginging scene for years but I put it down to hard/rough sex, rimming, fingering, basically many things expected/offered during escorting.
I was finally diagnosed with having a sensitive bladder and prescribed oxybutynin tabs 2/3 times a day. The crap side effects are that they make you insanely thirsty.
As Amy says, taking a break is great, when i'm not working it's no prob at all. Just had 2 weeks off and felt fine, didn't need the meds but one day back and two bookings where both went in with fingers (despite the fact that I removed it from my enjoys list ages ago!) and being told to be gentle and I'm getting the irritable rumbling warning signs.
I used to get D Mannose from the suppliers website and found it very helpful but it eventually became very expensive, looks like now prices are a bit more competetitive so I'd definitely recommend but also don't allow rough/PSE sex, fingering and rimming or excessive use of toys.

Yes absolutely right, I also take D-mannose and it helps well when the infection is back (they also recommend it for UTI prevention)
And no in general my clients are fine, like not too rough or banging away for ages (and when that happens, I don't hesitate to tell them to stop straight away) + I'm not getting much clients at the moment anyway so not sure why these cystitis/UTIs symptoms keep coming back

Yes I don't allow any of the services you've mentioned, I'm a very vanilla provider and if someone tries anything such as fingering or rimming, I tell them to stop straight away.
Yes D-Mannose is good but as you said it's indeed fairly expensive (£20 for 14 effervescent tablets) but yes also true that when I don't work and I don't have sex, it's significantly better. I also probably have sensitive bladder, did oxybutynin give you any other side effects that being thirsty ?

I am really prone to UTI's and I've had something very similar to what you are experiencing following a UTI. It feels like you still have an infection but when tested it is clear. My theory is after a UTI your urethra is inflamed and sore still and can take time to calm down. I have previously used amytriptoline (which among other things can treat nerve pain), and if things don't calm down i will take doxycycline which is used to treat urethritis (inflammation of the urethra)......obviously you need to be careful with self medication and I'm not a Dr, but this works for me

OP do keep in mind that penetrative sex (specially the rough type) rubs or puts pressure on your bladder and prostate, thus making you want to pee, which makes it very common for us ladies to want to use the toilet after rough sex. Every body is different, and every bodies anatomy too so what might bother you might not bother others. This doesn't mean you have a UTI just means you've had your bladder stimulated after rough sex and want to pee. I'm no doctor but had a similar problem, got all sorts of tests and this is the conclusion my OBGYN came to.

UTI's are more common when you reach the menopause. Also, what presents as a UTI is often just changes in your vulva, making it dry and itchy and yes - feeling the discomfort more when you have a wee.
I speak from experience. It was grim and I really struggled with bookings (even though I'm mardy anyway and don't fare well with prolonged sex and definitely don't allow fingers/toys/Rimming)
For me, HRT was the cure. 100%
Took it vaginally via pessary at first then, for other issues, I now take it in tablet form.

Could it be the condoms or lube that's setting you off? I had to switch to Latex free as sex was becoming unbearable. It definitely made a massive difference.

curvymamma, yes this could be that as well, and that would explain why it tests clear when I do a test. I'll ask the doctor about the above medications you recommended. Thanks for your help ;)

Ana30, yes but the thing is that it happens every time, even when the sex isn't rough at all, I definitely might have sensitive bladder/urethra

Phoenix, I'm in my early twenties so this is not due to menopause but could potentially have a hormonal cause though, by HRT, do you refer to hormonal therapy ?

Gina, I use latex condoms (durex) and never had any problems with them so far. I don't have any latex allergy as far as I'm aware but will definitely try condoms without latex to see if it makes a difference

Ah ok, so if it is hormonal it isn't due to the menopause almost certainly.
Yes, HRT: Full replacement oestrogen and Progesterone. :)

Have you ruled out cystitis ? I regularly (a couple of times a year) have to take those foul sachets which seems to clear it up for a bit. I take the sachets with weak squash or I could never drink them. . I find rougher/ bigger than normal or if I drink wine over a few days , I tend to get it worse. Currently drinking one as we speak :-X
Cranberry juice also helps . I also use Canesfresh Soothing Gel Wash ( can get it on Am*zon) when I was to soothe things a bit.

Aside from the advice to return to the doctor I can't recommend D-manoose enough, you can get it on amazon. It's a supplement and I swear by it.
Water infections are my nemesis and this has saved me. Along with ensuring you are drinking water (I forget when working, sometimes all day) and peeing regularly, especially after sex. I had to stop fingering for a time as I was sure it was introducing the issue however I am just very strict about no bum to vagina.
I would give the GP a little hassle though or even arrange private tests.

I had this about 4 years ago - went through the same GP advise, antibiotics, cranberry juice and all that. No use whatsoever. The only thing that stopped it was not having sex for a time... then if I started sex it came back. It also seemed to be worse when I was on my period but then get better at the end of my period (probaly cus of no sex).
Sorry if this is TMI but one thing that my GP and GUM clinic did not do was do a physical exam - I did my own exam which is quite difficult (used photo on my phone and then later asked a good, trusted and non sqeemish friend to take a look). The soreness was very localised to the opening of my urethra and there was what looked like a tear or split right at that point.
I went back to the doctors and saw another (female) GP who took one look and said that I had a torn and scarred urethral opening. Her advice was to stop having sex for a few weeks and always use lots of lube and no rough sex. She said that this would aways be a weakness in my anatomy and that I should be very careful when I had sex and foreplay (fingering).
Since then, I have blocked a couple of regular clients who had rough tendancies and stopped allowing oral on me - seems to have worked. I also think prolonged intercourse in missionary is a trigger - doggy position seems to put less strain on that region too.
My advice would be to get a physical exam
The scarring is still there and I can still feel a lumpy bit.
