Out of practical necessity (as well as preserving my own sanity) I need to make "a few days notice needed", rather than "see you in the next hour" bookings.

Is there any market for it, or do all guys want to see you straight away?

I have been doing some escorting (by advertising in a few magasines, papers and Adultwork a year ago) but have mostly been struck by "are you available now" brigade and timewasters.

Are there any other escorts who have managed to get enough clients by advanced bookings only system? Or has it been more hassle than been worth (when guys don't turn up, etc).

Also, do you find you get a different clientelle when asking them to email, rather than phone you? I do prefer clients calling me but wondered if the ones who want to email first are the ones more likely to book in advance.

How has it worked for you?

At one time (a few years ago) I used to work on advance bookings via email only as I was doing this around a full time job. It did work very well but IME the advance bookings have become less popular over the years and where I could fill a tour two weeks in advance previously, I do now take the odd on the day booking as that seems to be how the market has changed. I take bookings via phone and email now but even if they book via email, I get them to call on the day to confirm so I can speak to them directly to help suss them out a bit. My conversion rate for enquiries to bookings is quite high for both email and phone so not sure there is much of a difference in types of client - its just that some guys wont use email for tracability reasons - they'd rather use their 'punting phone'.

I would think there are enough advance booking guys to go around (especially outcalls) if you are part time - I had two outcalls at the weekend, one was a reg who booked a week in advance and one was a new guy who had booked about 4 weeks previous and I have just taken an email booking for an incall at the end of May from a guy I have seen before. So yes advance bookers are out there but perhaps not so many as a few years back.

Most of my bookings are in advance. I do ask for advanced notice on my site, but that's mainly because I don't live where I work, so a little notice is important. Saying that, there have been a few occassions where I've taken bookings on the same day, providing I've had adequate notice, i.e. a morning call for later in the day.

Funnily enough, in my experience, the no-shows I've had have been guys that have made a booking on the same day. I've had a couple of bookings in the last six months, where they've called in the morning for a booking for the early evening, and they've not bothered to turn up. On one occasion I was already at the flat anyway, so I didn't mind so much. But the second time it happened I'd made the trip into London especially, and I was none too pleased.

I prefer bookings taken in advance, because if the gent changes his mind and doesn't want to see me, then he either cancels with a bit of notice, or he doesn't confirm by my alloted time in the morning. Which is fair enough. I move on with my day.

And no, I don't find much difference with clients who phone, rather than email. If there is, it's only with the duration of the booking itself. Sometimes those who email for an advanced booking tend to book for longer.

With male escorting, there is a definite trend for clients wanting someone NOW. If they can't get you, they can get someone else. In part that's because in many places with a gay scene, they're going to be a few minutes away from a 'sex on the premises' venue where they could go and have anonymous casual sex. In Central London, for example, they'll have a choice of such places at almost any time.

Sometimes, if they have booked an escort to turn up in 30 minutes, they'll continue looking to see if there's someone who can be there in 15... and if there is, the first guy isn't going get the door opened to him.

Fortunately not everyone is like this, because it's a game I can't be bothered to play.

This is where being different from the rest helps - the people I've seen have typically thought about this for a looong time and don't mind waiting for a bit longer.

It's interesting to note what Sarah Jane is saying how demand for advanced bookings seem to have lowered lately. I used to do other erotic stuff before going into escorting most of it on a 121 bookings basis. The clients in that field ALWAYS made advanced bookings. At least few days in advance. Sure I'd have some timewasters, but not nearly as many compared with escorting. No one tried to haggle my fees (a frequent occurence) so it all came as a chock to my system in my new job.

Perhaps, (I sincerely hope so) things would improve once I have a proper website.

Or could it be that London is getting saturated with escorts in a way other cities aren't? Pushing for a greater demand of Pizza Express kind of attitude towards sex.
