Very indiscreet client - am I being unreasonable
« on: 17 November 2021, 04:20:18 pm »
Booked a new client in, he texts to say he's parked up. I go to my kitchen window to ensure no neighbours are stood outside chatting etc before I give him house number only to see a big bloke stood on the corner near my house on his phone. After a few minutes I start to think 'is this my client?'. I text him to ask where he's parked and its bloody him, he was stood on my road looking like he's waiting for a drug deal to go down. I was absolutely livid because his standing there was extremely suspicious in such a posh area. I told him to go away by text because any neighbours looking out would have seen him waiting then walking in to my place. I will add all the houses on my road have private drives and there is plenty of space to park on the road. He didn't know my house number. He was very apologetic but I still didn't want to see him. None of my clients have ever done that before, they all wait in their cars for instructions. Am I being unreasonable?

I do feel a bit bad, he was my sort of age and I prefer those but because I live near a school it just looked extremely dodgy. I don't see many a day anyway for discretion but the last thing I need is curtain twitchers. He was apologetic whereas he could have been shitty about it. Not sure if I want to give him another chance. I've driven past places before and seen men hanging around so I've kind of assumed there was an escort working from that block etc, but he really did look like he was waiting for a drug deal. Men! They don't think  :FF

I've found I have to have a list of do not for discretion, simply because so many who also require discretion, had told me they understood discretion, didn't / don't want to be indiscrete simply were.

Very much like a few other things I have to mention because  if I dont spell it out, it happens and I if I didn't see anyone who did these things, cancelled each time I would  wipe out as many as 75% of punters / bookings.

I always tell them they have to call from inside car when they arrive and not on the street as many lack common sense.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

It infuriates me when they arrive and call to be directed in and they get out of their car and start walking around. I tell them to get back into their car as it’s not discreet. They always apologise frantically as they're just not thinking.

I turned away a client the other day as he refused to park where I asked. It’s a non-negotiable screening stipulation of mine. If they don’t follow the procedure I tell them to leave. I always affirm on the phone when they book that they must park where I instruct or I won’t proceed with the booking and most are understanding.
