Using paypal to recieve money
« on: 27 April 2013, 12:52:02 am »
Hi,

I have a client who wants to send me money for a deposit before I meet him for a booking. I don't want to give him my bank details but if I used paypal would he be able to see my real address if I use my personal one? thanks x

posted last week about this ... it is better to get a voucher with 360 money voucher ..
its really great and work with a prepaid mastercard, easily obtainable "with money shop" or enquiry with moneysupermarket.. wesbsite..
YOu will get a credit card prepaid, and when the client want to send you money he will go to any paypoint and buy one voucher equal to the amount you asked. Once he has sent you the code pin nr, you will then load in onto your card to make sure its real, check the balance and see if it appears online. If all good the he is apparently a cool chap.
good luck with it.

Hi,

Paypal do not allow payments for anything in this industry. Also the client can reverse payment up to 3 months later, so whilst you may have transferred the money, you will have a debt with them.

Whilst not the best prepay card for rates and charges, most good newsagents stock prime cards, think they are ?10 or ?15 to buy?

If a one off, maybe a mobile top up may work?

If Paypal get a whiff if what the payment is for they'll close taking any funds received with them, and if the sender reverses the transaction - which they can do weeks afterwards, you'll owe it back.

Amazon vouchers are another anonymous way to receive a deposit, and they stock a whole host of useful items to buy with them.

To stop a client being able to see your personal details you can set up a business account with paypal, although as others have said it's against paypals rules to use it for anything to do with sex.

Nothing to stop you recieving unrelated monetary 'gifts' tho.

Hi

The main issue with Paypal is not that they dont accept adult related transactions as it's easy enough to just call it a 'gift'. The problem is that the Client can reverse the transaction at any point in the next three months - do you really want to spend 90 days worrying that you gave away sex for nothing...?

Giving someone your Bank details is completely safe. The Sort Code and Account no are only what used to be written on a cheque and no one ever had any worries about handing them into shops etc. There is no way that just this info is enough for anyone to find out any extra information about you unless they work in a Bank and are prepared to risk being sacked for misconduct. Once they have your Sort Code and Account no they can pay you via Internet banking or they can go to a branch of your bank, fill in a paying in slip and hand cash in over the counter.

The only issue with this is that they might also need your surname and initial. Mine are completely common and unremarkable so I dont mind letting Clients know but I accept this is a personal judgement :) I have been using this method of accepting payments for years without any issues though - just like I also do in my 'respectable' business...
