Using best bedding for clients, yes or no?
« on: 12 July 2013, 01:21:48 am »
So a client wanted me to change my bed sheets the other day despite being immaculately aka just washed of course although made me wonder what you girls use? Best sheets of plain easy to wash, reliable sheets which is what i do?

I'm not the best at making beds it ends up all lumpy but of course that makes it looked.... used i guess. I want to buy some nice satin sheets but then again it would be a waste, get worn down from the daily washing.

Let me know

Just my opinion here, but i change my sheets all the time. I think if a client asked me to do that i wouldnt, if my sheets were a mess they would get washed anyway and the flat i rent is immaculate!
In Inverness there is so many WGs working out of drug dens....clients should be happy when they come to a decent place.
Guess my point is, if your sheets are all cummy, surely they will get changed anyway. xx

I just use cheap ones from primark etc for clients. Synthetic throws or a king size fake satin duvet cover used for a throw looks ok, doesn't stain as easily as nice cotton ones and they can be washed often then thrown out and replaced when they start looking worn out. Cost ?5-?10 so doesn't matter if they have to be replaced after a few months.

Sainsburys do a thing called bed in a bag, which includes a duvet cover, 2 pillow cases and a runner. They are decent and wash well, plus very cheap! I've managed to get them in the sale for as little as ?10 before.

Asda do something similar: two sets for ?19. Just plain polycotton. Decent value.

In this weather though I've jut been using a throw over my bed. I have three so a different one for each client and then they all get washed (if we even use the bed that is!)

I buy Dorma, Bedeck etc from an online sale shop at approximately half price, I find it washes better and I've sets I've had for years which are only just starting to bobble. I don't see that many clients, and even then we don't always end up on the bed/in the bedroom or I might have an outcall or two so I'm not needed to change it many times a day.

I change the quilt cover and pillows after bookings. So it looks and feels  more comfortable for clients. I also use expensive ones. As quality my business represents.

I'm the same.  I tend to go to shopping outlets and pick up quality bedding at 1/2 the price.  I did buy some cheap satin bedding on line once and it's already falling apart compared to the others that I've had for much longer.  I don't think I'd buy satin look again as you end up sliding all over the place and I'm fed up of the electric shocks I get from it every time I change it.

i have a quilt with a cover on my bed + just a quilt cover  that goes over the top of it  that i can easily take off and replace within seconds ( i have loads of quilt covers which are the same i often buy 1 get one free and always get them in King size so that they cover the bed properly

this is mainly because i hate changing quilt covers + duvets and normally end up inside the quilt cover itself  hot and sweaty and  muttering to myself obscene words of hatred of duvets and quilts

I've never spent ?100 on a set and I've never had anything damaged....yet! One client did get blood from a scabby knee(sporting accident)on a cream Dorma set, he insisted on leaving ?50 to cover the damage. I told him it'd wash out so not required, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. It did wash out but he's been unable to commit to another booking (I said I'd refund if it didn't stain).

Argos white colourmatch stuff is ?9.99 for double, ?14.99 for king, stays crisp and looks fine. Can wack a throw on the end and cushion to smarten it up. Easy to wash and dry and if you buy a few sets it does not matter if all mixed up. Nice and light for touring too.

What I do is, have my bed in "work" room made with sheets then put a black throw over the top which is 6ft by 6ft so totally covering the bed, then I put on a fleecy feeling throw over the top cover the wiggle space as I call it, thats the bit that goes in the wash after each clients. The black one doesn't get touched but protects my bedding from being worn out, the fleecy throws are from ikea and with my family card cost me ?2 each.. I have hundreds :D

I suppose in response to opening question, No don't use your best bedding, most men have NO idea about bedding as long as it isn't worn thin or dirty then stick with sainsburys bed in the bag - its great :D

I always use good quality Egyptian cotton sheets and duvet sets and then I put a really plush thick  double bed sized throw over them.

The throws are easy to wash and dry really quickly.

I like quality bedding as I think not only does it look better but it feels better too
