Just an update guys .. I had a confrontation with the assholes after i was told that they complained that they saw a black man with a bottle of wine coming to me and that he parked on the driveway , this black man happens to be my boyfriend ! and that i play music 2am in the morning which is a big fat lie because i go to bed at 12am and don't wake up till the next morning . I told the guy i got this property from and he had a go at the landlord and the landlord called me back to ask what happened, i explained to him and told him they said they saw my boyfriend coming to see me with a bottle of wine and my landlord was like are they mad? anyway he said he will come and speak to them tomorrow because they are harassing me . My friend also suggested i should make a report to the police about this .

I was so upset today because the agency guy bluntly told me that they said they don't want me to have visitors and i shouldn't go out after 12am ! lmao are these people new in england ? like they come from their country to police people around in another country  :FF. I really had a go at them today and i know this has put them in their place . sometimes is good to stand up for yourself and speak up! they were taking too much piss so i had to give it to them in a very horrible way .  ::)

Morning Ladies,

Am in a big mess right now. I have been reported to my landlord by the new tenants and am being asked to move asap.

Have been living in my current house for 4 years now and never had any issues with any of the neighbors. The last tenant moved out about a month ago and the new one is living with entire family . Anyway , have had it in mind to move for a long time now but was finding it difficult due to my plans of relocating to another town. Am still deciding on where to live but my target was to leave my current house by end of july latest.

I got a call from the agency yesterday saying he wanted to speak to me , i was like is there a problem? he said no but he wanted to discuss something with me . I spoke to my landlord and he said i have to move out because he's paying too much bills ( my house is bills inclusive) i have sorted this out with him and agreed that i would have to start paying the bills my self . Anyway, the agency guy came and told me that the new tenants said am doing business etc . i was not shocked because they once stopped my client and asked him where he was going to . This is a house converted into two flats but with one main entrance door . They said so many shitty stuff to the agency guy and i was fuming ! anyway have been asked to move out and even though i know by law a month's notice is required, due to the nature of the situation i don't have much choice . Am thinking by the end of the month i should be out but with little notice am finding it hard getting a house etc

The agency guy was a bit cheeky and said " oh if you want to do business from your house, i suggest you get a  flat or house with private entrance at least that way no one would complain. I did deny the whole business thing and i just said all they are my friends l0l but seriously am going so mad right now and i need some advice on what to do next i:e is it better to get my own house ? getting a flat with a private entrance is really hard considering the fact that is also at short notice. please someone with a similar situation should tell me how she got out of this mess am in right now .

p:s i dont like the new tenants , they are all nosy and stuff and even the agency guy said it . Imagine asking me question like where do you work? etc and then saying stuff in their language ( asian men) and laughing behind my back . Am really upset about these whole thing and i need some serious advice now . thanks and sorry for the long essay

Of course it's upsetting and I'm sorry you have this massive inconvenience right now.

Are you good on paper to find a new place? Look for a big building - a big block of small flats that are popular with young single professionals. They don't tend to settle in, don't get to know their neighbours, and pay little attention to what's going on.

Thank you dear, Am just sat here thinking of what to do and how to get out of this mess. The block of flat is a a good idea. i told my friend and he said the same and he also recommended that i should consider a ground floor flat too. am just so upset right now because everything is happening so fast .

What the agency guy said makes sense. I don't think he was being cheeky. Have you thought of asking him if he knows a suitable place?

Have you checked your tenancy agreement for the statutory notice period?Very often the letting agent or landlord has to provide two months notice.

In the meantime you could arrange to meet your clients at the front door.

Blocks with more than ten flats, populated by people who are employed during the day are best.

Is there a "no business should be conducted in premises" clause on your lease? cause if it's not... you're not doing any illegal activity. I would go to a lawyer/barrister specializing in housing matters and ask if there's any complaint you could make against the landlord. Sue his ass. He has no right to kick you out.

I have to agree with Mirror it is by law 2 months, I would also state to the agency that you are tired of being harrassed by these new tenants and that if it does not stop you will be seeing the police about making a complaint.  If they say what you are doing is illegal, just say bulltwaddle it is not, the least they can do is ask you not to work from the premises until you move in which case you could always use a hotel every other day.

Do not allow these people to bully you, stand up for yourself or you will find yourself in these situations often.

If the agency and landlord are giving you problems contact Shelter they will be able to tell you everything you need to know.

"Asian men" you say?Are these the new tenants? Hypocrites. If you are reasonably busy I would insist on having a decent notice period and stop seeing anyone at home; just use a cheap travelodge or something if you can and go full out to save enough for a deposit for a better place that's more anonymous and much less visible to nosey neighbours. Good Luck.

My neighbours all know what I do but I don't live there but I do own it. I have had plain clothes officers around after lots of complaints over several years and they told me themselves there's nothing they can do because I'm not breaking the law and I'm not causing any offence. The fact that they know isn't enough. I don't work late at night or at the weekend. I don't have 8-10  a day coming through the door and I mainly see business type men. They don't have grounds to shut me down and a big plus - I own the property. The neighbours hate me and it can be quite uncomfortable but I just say hello and go about my business as if I'm doing nothing wrong - which I'm not but they choose to let it bother them.

Most tenancies now have a 'no business' clause by default. But check for it because if it is not there they have no ground for kicking you out.

If it is there I don't know if that means they can skip the notice period, but that's unlikely. Even for eviction notice they have to give you a month or 2 (I can't remember exactly). Speak to Shelter and don't let them kick you out before you get advice on your rights.

This happened to me, ( got evicted for running a business from the address, the end of last year.)

Yes they are still required to give you 2 months notice as per your tenancy agreement. The standard is 2 months notice though some do vary
. As to the finding it hard to find somewhere new after eviction for this reason I just paid six months upfront and seemed to solve anyone's concern over the gap in my references.

Also want to say I hope you are okay! Being evicted esp for this reason can be kind of traumatic along with all the stress of moving short notice.
Best of luck.

You now need to get your game face on and try and find somewhere. I can't recommended enough a new build type place with a communal entrance x

Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time DC, that sounds awful.

I agree that the estate agent probably wasn't trying to be cheeky, it's just that if you do have your own entrance there would be far less risk of complaints..... he might have been trying to be helpful, but worded it badly xx

Although what everyone else is saying is correct re. the two months notice, if it was me personally I wouldn't fight it. Your neighbours sound horrible, and having groups of men hanging around watching your every move and laughing at you sounds awful. You were going to move anyway, and you sound like you feel really humiliated and miserable at the moment xxxx I'd just go. I wouldn't use the same estate agent either, start anew with a different agent who won't be biased against you.

A big new build block is definitely the way to go.... no one will care who you are or what you do. Failling that, a garden flat with it's own entrance. The place you live now sounds completely unworkable in terms of doing incalls.... although it all seems awful now you will be SO MUCH happier when you are moved, you're secure again, and it's all done xxx

It is a really horrible thing to happen, but given your unpleasant new neighbours and the strong likelihood that you're breaching your tenancy agreement, I think it would be best to cut your losses and just focus on finding somewhere new to live. Think about a house (so long as it's not in a cul-de-sac or anywhere overly quiet) as well as a flat: if nothing else, soundproofing is usually less of an issue.

Good luck!

Well..... as a leaving thankyou to your nasty neighbors. Seeing as you need to make up deposit for your next place which = more clients than usual. But yea next time best to get a big flat. Im only in a small city but there are a good 10 block of luxury flats in the direct city. Aim for one of those. I don't even know my neighbors at all, couldn't pick them out in a crowd they tend to be so much better for this kind of thing. :)

Hope everything sorts out. Maybe look into the "send glitter to your enimies" for getting your butt kicked out. But that's just my take no shit nature speaking. What an awful situation they've put you in.

At least ask them for a good refrence if they're kicking you out inunder a month. If for any reason you can't just move to a different place.... put your belongings in storage then get as many days as you can in a hotel x
