Unsealed envelope

Just a quicky: Can someone just point out what's the deal with people specifying "unsealed" envelope? Thanks.

'I'm going to count the money first, so don't bother sealing the envelope!'

Opening a sealed envelope can be a faff - you don't really want to have knife-style letter openers lying around for people to use, for example.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Because you want to check the contents immediately and with minimum fuss. Having to tear open an envelope gets in the way, doubly so if you find payment awkward and want to deal with it discreetly.
